Hey;

My hydro tried to adjust on 3416 H, and got next to zero reverse part of the time. Then others, it will go fast in reverse. Yep, adjusted several times and still right here. Forward is okay, but kinda sluggish. Belt and fluid good.
So what is the problems, how hard to work on , where to get parts?Really want to get this nailed down, been a year now having this headache.

The few Vicker I have worked on....fluid was the ticket. Change/flush with a new filter, and I was good to go. I actually got a guy down $250 on a nice 3212H because it wouldn't back up, and was sluggish in forward speeds. Cost me $20 or less at Autozone for a filter and enough fluid to flush/fill and it will spin the tires in reverse now. Runs close to 7mph in forward.

I'd really give that system a good look, and not be afraid to flush the old sludge out. They weren't due for service for 500 hours, but chances are, yours may be well past that now.

IMHO, the 3416 is king of the Simplicities...has a bit of that vintage appeal, and enough of the RBT comforts that make it a solid, 40+ year machine!:fing32:

Tainted;

Thanks for the good advice, my questions are.
1. I have a WIX new filter, what do you think of them?
2. Do you use a suction gun to empty the filter tank, or what?
3. What type of fluid do you fill it with.
Thank You . good to have a caring soul actually help out.

1. Purolator - H20247 / Wix - 51467 or any equivilent. I got a Fram from Autozone last time. They don't need to be changed often unless you get dirt in there.

2. I've never flushed one, but I have a hose leak, and top it off once a year. I would pull the hose and let it pump itself mostly empty under low RPM, re-attach and refill. You will probably have to fill the resevoir twice, after running it a bit.

3. Dex II...pretty sure any of the Dextron's will work for you just fine.
