Congrats on the purchase of your "M"! Sounds like you get to enjoy the experience right off the bat. Bent rim, loose or worn wheel bearings or slop in the steering gear can all produce front end wobble. My "M" had been sitting for years and the governor linkage was actually stuck, but got it freed up and working fine. Could also be the linkage between the governor and the carb. Botched up 12V conversions are always fun. I just stripped mine out and re-wired it from scratch. Do an on-line search for Bob Melvilles Farmall wiring diagrams, you'll find just what you need...it's alot more simple than I could ever explain. Good Luck!

Sorry about no pictures. I lost the tool to upload pictures to my compter. It appears I have a bad rim. There is no play in the hub and the hub spins straight and smooth. I'll try to get pictures and some videos when I get the new rim.

hey! another mini-snow-tan, welcome to the Forums. even if you've been lurkin around them for a while.

M's are pretty easy to find parts for. You might find a new "rim/wheel" off an H, a combine, another M, or even a 400. The major difference in the rims on the various machines is usually the hub itself. The wheel/rim can be uunbolted from the hub. I myself have borrowed wheels off my inalw's H, just had to use my own hubs.

**if you should happen to find a decent M parts tractor, I'd be interested in the upper bolster...as the steering parts on my 400 are in need of work/replacement someday when I find the bits and pieces. (and for a fair non-gold-standard price)

So I tried out the international sickle bar I got with the tractor. What a pain in the butt! I don't know what I was doing wrong but all it did was clog up. Granted it was all weeds I was cutting. I'm hoping that when I replant grass that it cuts better. Has a new bar too.

On another note can anyone tell me which hydraulic port I need to use to hook up to my sickle mower? It just has a one way cylinder.

Right side liftall pump connection...

Hi Maniac
I bought a 1940 m from a guy a couple of months ago. He gave me a sickle mower also. He told me he had put a bigger pulley on the mower to speed it up a little so it would cut better at slow speeds. I will point out that the pto gear was broke when I bought the tractor. They beefed the gear up in 42. If yours is a later one I would try to speed the mower up also.
