Was at an auction yesterday and picked up a 265 for $400.00, it has a 46" deck (I think) and the power 2 bag bagger system. I think it has a stripped piece on the motion lever as the lever feels very loose and moves quite a ways before it goes forward and barely back at all. The diff seems pretty beefy with an external filter and a line that goes from one spot on the tranny to another (not sure what for though). The engine seems real strong, no smoke at all and runs very nicely.

Great price...I had one and really liked it alot...hope your problems are minor!

Congrats on the 265. :wwp:

My inlaws's property is surrounded by a Christmas tree farm that is owned by the neighbors who mowed acres of grass around those trees for years with (2) 265s. Each ran for well over 2000 hours with proper maintenance. Have fun with it.:fing32:

Thanks all, I had a bit of a look at the drive today and it is definately in the linkages. When the travel lever is moved you can see the gas tank moving around and there is a large spring that is broken as well. Just need to tear the rear fenders off and have a look.

Nice to see you back on the forum. Glad you added to the collection. The 265 will serve you well, especially at that price.Randy

Thanks Randy,

Too many things on the go to spend as much time as I used to here. I am pretty happy about the 265 as I have been looking for a good dedicated mower for the wife as the 185 I bought was just not big enough and sold it last fall for what I paid for it. She has been complaining about the 2320 that it mows too fast as she likes her tractor time, so this should put her back up to over 5 hrs to mow the lawn. ANd also I get to keep the 2320 ready for other duties (not that 3 min to drop the mower deck is a long time though). Still hoping to get rid of my 216, 108 and the 2 White GT's in the spring but I never seem to find the time to finish them. Of course the White GT1822 trashed the engine this summer so I am in the process of getting another 18hp Briggs opposed twin ready to install.

Yes, that WAS last winter, at my weekend place in Prince Edward County (Ontario). My engine knocks pretty badly, so recently picked up a 180 that has the same engine and will swap eventually, but right now the blade is on the 265 and the deck is on the 180..... uh-oh... green fever settling in !!

Geeze forgot how long that 265 was sitting in the quonset. Got around to tearing it apart a couple weeks ago and well I am not sure I can afford the repair. $4.67 for 2 washers, a nut and a bushing to put the hydro drive lever back together. Took all of 3 hrs to tear the bodywork off and get to the lever guts. It is all back together and fires up and runs like... well A Deere. So for $404.67 total I got the wife a pretty nifty new mower machine and the 2320 will never see the 62D mower deck again.
