Hello,
Has anyone here used a product called engine restorer? I saw it at WalMart and it claims that it will restore compression along with eliminating smoking. They have formulas for 4 cyl and 8 cyl cars. Anyone have any experience with this stuff or can anyone see any down side to trying it out?
Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply. I thought I'd try it but just wanted to make sure that I do not do any damage. If it does not work or isn't noticable that is fine as long as there would be no long term damage.

I think you have to have an oil pump to move the particles around. I think the particles that fill the scratches in the cylinder will fall to the bottom of the oil pan and stay there. I did use it on a K241 and never saw any change.

Most in my own opinion are snake oil (the Lucas brands are great) want to buy a bridge . but if it's that bad a real fix is in order

hmmm i think i might give this a try, how much do i use?

I think it said to use half of the 11oz can for small motors. My motor is not bad off but thought that if this really worked it would be worth the $8 or $9. I can see the point about it not working on a motor without a oil pump.

Just a thought......and 2 cents worth.
If this type of stuff really worked, no engine would ever have to be rebuilt.:(

I think that putting gunk in your oil to make it thick enough that it doesn't slip past the rings will also make it too thick to slip into the places it needs to go to keep the bearings lubed. :beatdeadh

Most people will try to postpone the inevitable and in doing so create bigger problems. Now is usually the best time to fix something. The longer you put it off, the worse your gonna make it.
