Greetings and Happy Sunday. I have a John Deere 318 and am having a problem with the mower drive belt.I replaced the mower belt (the one that goes around the 4 pulleys) yesterday and then put on the main drive belt,(the one that goes to the pulley above the 4 pulley deck). Now when I attempt to engage the blades, the light comes on,indicating engagement, but you hear no load on the motor and the drive belt doesn't turn. I can look and see that the liittle disc in the middle of the drive pulley is spinning, however, the drive pulley doesn't turn. I have replaced the mower,4 pulley belt, on several occasions, without any issue, but now the main drive belt won't turn. I have tried adjusting the tension knob but the pulley still doesn't turn. What's wrong here?

Thanks

Well, I looked at the video, but let me provide some additional clarification.I just replaced the power steering cylinder the day before and the belts were engaging fine.I noticed an additional leak at a connecting point in the hydralic line, cut,re-flanged and repaired it, with no apparent leaks. That's all that I did and it's only now that the main belt doesn't turn. Is there anything else, fuses, for example.that I might look at.? The indicator comes on,but you never detect a "load" as I always have previously. Thanks

There are two fuses, Felix. Depending on the year, they are either tube type (and sort of hidden by the battery) or blade type, prominently visible when you open the hood.

Sounds as if you may have knocked a connection loose.

Felix,
Try removing the grille and disconnect the main power lead to the PTO,
Check that 2 pin lead with a voltmeter to see when you turn the PTO switch on you have DC Voltage at the incoming lead. If so Reconnect that lead
and try it again if the clutch still does not engage and you have gapped the
PTO to .018. I would check your connections at the PTO switch and regap the PTO to a closer setting.
