Hows everyone doing? I used to come on here for lawnboy advice and parts. I sold the duraforce and my silver series bit the dust. But recently I have bought a $30 running 7268, and a comercial "clone" made from another 7268 deck with a commercial replacement engine(has the replacement engine sticker) with the big fuel tank. Just no orange wheels, but it did come with 3 bag sets rod/shoots and all for $60 and it starts on the first pull every time! Then the other day I came across a pretty good looking self propelled non compliance model from the late 70s/early 80s for $50. Then the guy says he has an 8861 commercial rear bagger he'd sell for $50 as well. So I'm gonna pick those up on friday. I always wanted a vintage lawnboy like I had when I was a kid when I pulled one out of a trash pile and it started fairly easily! And all of a suden there has been a ton of them on craigslist! I might sell the first 7268 if/when I get the others. Would anyone here want it?

In a nutshell my lawnboy fetish is alive and well!:thThumbsU

I forgot to mention I have not taken pics yet, but I'll have some up at some point today/tonite!

In the future I would like to aquire a bricktop, but I have only ever seen one in my area and that was an old mans who brought it down from PA and he would not sell it!:crybaby: It was one of those yellow(buttercup?) ones.

If I were local to you, I'd be a buyer for that 7268!

I'm in the process of putting up pics as I figure out how to do that again..........not a computer person! I'm not sure, I might not sell the 7268 I think I might keep the four of them and just cycle them so I don't just wear one out. I do use these for my business! But who knows I might have ten of them by the end of the summer, you never know!

As you can see the 7268 is a bit rough but it runs well. I have been using the 7268 commercial "clone"(Is this frankenmower status?) for work and it starts on the first pull every time. The story behind that one is that the PO's grandfather owned a lawnmower shop and made it out of new-old-stock parts for him and his brother to use cutting grass for money as kids. He had owned it for over 20 years and was sad to see it go.

Here is some pics of the 8861 and what I assume to be a self proprelled 7268(?) That I am going to pick up tomorrow. The seller emailed me these pics today. He had taken the 8861 apart to paint the deck.

The self propelled is most likely an 8237. Bascially the same mower as a 7268, just self propelled. All great mowers. I have 2 7268's and 2 8237's. That 7268 will clean up nice, the chrome on the handle looks good. I picked up a 5247 a couple weeks ago that looked worse than that, but under all the grease and grime was a really nice mower.

I just picked up the 8861 and the 8237. The 8861 is disassembled, but came with a good spare shortblock as well as a few extra hardware pieces. The 8237 runs but the carb leaks a little more than I was expecting and it could use a new shroud. Overall I think $100 was a steal. Its funny too, cuz the guy turned out to be someone that I sold a 10323 and another lawnboy and a toro to last winter! This was the first time I used a capstan (SP?) style self propelled model. I found that if you leave the bar pushed forward it kinda "locked" and you can let go of it and it'll take off by itself! This was entertaining for a bit!
