Looks good! Nice grinder too!:fing32:

Leave those tins on the engine! they are what direct the air flow to cool it. Now here's my secret.... Take the hood off..... It traps the heat, I take mine off when I mow, my engine runs A LOT cooler, and best off all, I don't get blasts of hot air from the engine on me now. Nothing worse than mowing on an 80 degree day in the afternoon sun getting blasted with engine heat. But than again I'm cold blooded, you'll see me in a t-shirt and shorts on a 40 degree day and hiding in the basement with the AC on as soon as it hits 85. I'm super sensitive to heat and humidity, I get headaches that would down an elephant.

I'm not sure if a computer fan could really move enough air to make much of a difference.

Another thing is with any engine, after you work it hard or have it at high speed settings, giving it a chance to cool down makes a big difference. Just let it run at 1/4 throttle for 3-4 minutes, it keeps air moving but does not create heat like full throttle does.

Alright, so i met the guy from craigslist today, and i checked it out and when i held out 15 bucks, (he wanted 10, but he drove 1/2 hour) he redused to take money from a kid!!!

Woot! Its great to be a kid!!!!!

Anyways, brought it home, took it apart, (took pics of course) and wire wheeled and painted it since it was reeeally rusted good.

The only thing i dont like is the pulleys are welded onto the jackshaft...

Pics asap!!!!!

Ahh man, well the guy i bought it from told me they made like 10 different versions of te 1036 every year.

And also thers not much engineering in those linkages and brakets, its like add a cotter pin here, spring here, bolt here, its a MESS.

alright well some of you are gonna hate me for this.

i have given up trying to modify a mower deck to fit it. the snowblower isnt in great shape either. (still might put that on in the future if we dont blow the tranny this summer)

my friend, first, wanted to build a tracked john deere 319 (i think) but it was going to cost too much. so i said hey we can still make something out of my old worthless tractor. (worthless because all it does is drive around)

he ordered a 4" pulley for the engine and we are waiting for it to come in. then we will take a rope and figure out what size belt we need.

the idea is a little more speed. and turn it into an off road go kart.
