I found this attachment 2 years ago in a barn and I just got it today.

Only 4 speeds in an 8 speed tranny when in reverse. There was a company that made GRW's for a Gravely rider. Remember, on a rider, you have 8 spees forward, but only 6 in reverse. There is no 4th/hi or 1st/low. The GRWs were so you could trench in reverse and at low speed.
What is the measurement for the distance between the center of your shaft and the center of the end idler? Looks like it is a 44" cut unit in one section. Here are some better pictures.
When I was taking these pictures it was starting to snow, will leave the blower on a little longer just in case
Duhhhhhh! Yep! my bad!Only 4 speeds in an 8 speed tranny when in reverse.
1.1, 1.7, 2.5, 3.8 MPH in high or low range.
Speeds matches forward low 3, 4, and high 1, 2.
Don't feel bad, I had a senior moment earlier today where I was off by 3 decimal places.:fing20:Duhhhhhh! Yep! my bad!
That sounds like a 44" if that is the spacing on the chain bar. Looking at your trailer, if it is a 5' bed, then that would make sense. Is there a joint between the roller mount on the bar and where it bolts to the frame of the gearbox. If I am measuring in the right place it is about 51 inches Fla Don
You learn something new everyday! I thought for sure it was a wild goose chase! Does anybody have a set or any pictures? EdThere was a company that made GRW's for a Gravely rider. Ron is not the only one who has heard mention of a gear reduction for the riders. I don't remember where or who but I have read about them somewhere. It also seems there was a way of mounting the trencher on the back of a rider but I am not absolutely sure of that.I asked Ron C and he said that I would need gear reduction wheels for the rider so now I have another think to look for. I had never heard of gear reduction wheels for a rider does any one have a set they want to sell ?
Just when I think we've identified the rarest of the rare accessories for the riders, we find out about another one. They were made by Cowley.
Wow! Those must be super scarce! Thanks Ron, :thanku:They were made by Cowley.
Same company that made the trencher. Crowley Ridge Machine Works Inc, Joneboro, Arkansas. Do you own those Ron?They were made by Cowley.
Do you mean like this:It also seems there was a way of mounting the trencher on the back of a rider but I am not absolutely sure of that.
That could be the picture I saw. I had also read about the rider gear reductions as well. Does anyone know how the trencher is mounted on the rear of the rider.? It must use the rear pto for a power source. It seems there used to be a sight you could get to from the links on Steven Chalmer's website that showed lots of attachments (not the "Gravely Train" site) but it no longer is available even though the link is still there. I may have seen the info there. I can't remember.:banghead3:fing20:Do you mean like this:
(Not my machine)

They look like the 4-wheeler version of the Uni-Vator Corp 2-wheeler GRWs.
They made atleast two items for on Gravelys. One is a rotary cultivator for on the 2-wheelers. The other is a set of GRWs that did not bolt to the axle housing. They simply relied on the weight of the tractor to keep them from rotating. The tiller is in a PM ad at http://books.google.com/books?id=8N...t&ct=result&resnum=2&ved=0CDYQ6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q=Univator rotary tiller&f=false And a better picture minus cover at http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/2881203020057567508okzYUi Click on the snapshots in the corner to see more of it. I pick mine up this week and it has the cover. Pictures posted by satdealer ( Chuck ) who posts on yahoo gravelyclub.Fla Don, What is a Uni-Vator or what did the Uni-Vator Corp. Manufacture?
