Hey all,
I'm starting a new thread for my restoration project, the other thread was my required intro. This one will be full of pictures detailing my progress.
Today was day one, this is how it looked when I started:
I only was able to work on it for about three hours, but here's what I did today:
removed hood, engine panels, fender deck, and console sides
removed battery, lights, hour meter, steering wheel, control knobs
removed battery tray
removed belly panel
started general clean-up
blasted all rusted hardware so I can get them off tomorrow
Some of these pictures I just took so I'll remember which fasteners go where. If you look carefully you'll spot some non-original and missing hardware. Some pics are with flash, some without, so that's why they may look different.
seat hardware
that's just WD-40, not fuel!
no rust holes, that's a good thing
I'll be needing a new one of these (lights switch)
this way I'll know which wire goes where (I wiggled that connector loose)
Tomorrow will be more cleaning and beginning of rust removal, and also a trip to the local John Deere dealer with a list of goodies to get. The best part? My fiancee, who went with me to the auction where we got this tractor, is almost as excited as I am to go to the dealer :fing32:
One thing I noticed today was that the power steering cylinder seems to be leaking. Are these rebuildable? My TM-1590 is on its way, otherwise I'd probably know for myself.
