I just bought an ECHO mower off of Ebay from a member here.

Now, I know the mower has the same deck as a Jacobsen/Homelite Super-Bagger, but what was the story on these mowers? When were they built and why are they seemingly so hard to find?

I'm guessing the reason they stopped making them was that nobody was buying them.

Anybody know much about them?

That has been the problem with a lot of manufacturers. They dont want to invest into an area too deeply so they put their name on someone elses product and jack up the price to match thier name plate. I feel this was the case with Echo.

I cant tell you how many people have posted a Lawn Boy with a different name brand here. Very short lived production. I guess you wouldnt want a Chevy Camaro with a Sears Craftsman name plate.. LOL

Echo makes some great 2 stroke engines.

i have first hand knowledge about these motors. they were first offered for sale around 1990 and my boss bought 2 . both were terriable-full of problems and we quickly pulled them from service. echo stopped production almost as soon as they were releised for sale to public. i still have one in my junk pile .
