hi just curious i have the chance to buy a cub 1450 with a plow and wheel weights. it doesnt run but otherwise in pretty good shape. does anyone here have a rough guess of what it would be worth? deck is solid and it is a hydrostat with i believe hydraulic lift.
Alos does anyone have pics of or know if there is a sleeve hitch attachment made for this tractor? i know it is one of the wide frame models if im not mistaken. Also if it doesnt have it should i invest in the helper spring for the use of the plow. Thanks and any info, pics of the spring or lift would be appreciated:thanku:

You lookin at the one in torrington?
Well, either way, that's a beast of a tractor. They are a wide frame IH cub cadet. Anything, and everything that fits a wide frame cub will bolt on.
Hydraulic lift was standard on them.
Make sure it runs....a new motor will cost more than you spend on the tractor.
I'd be buying one if the wife would let me add it to the fleet.
What's he asking for it?

You can get a sleeve hitch for it. They can be found but aren't real real common.

I paid $350 for a 1250 with the hydraulic lift that ran great and was in decent shape and had a really clean deck. If it don't run I would be at under $300 since it has a plow and weights. The plows sell for around $100 maybe a little more, and IH cast iron wheel weights bring top dollar as well on ebay.

yeah the seller wants $300 but i think i can talk him down a little. The motor doesnt run but i havent been able to study the tractor in detail yet to see if i can spot the problem. eastonct124 it isnt the one in torrington its a local guy that i have bought parts from in the past and have had no problems with before. Hopefully will be looking at it this week if the schedule permits

If it runs, it's a steal for even $500!

yeah doesnt run though...has compression but the owner says the starter is bad on it. Otherwise the condition is pretty good. What would be a fair offer to give him? I also found out that it comes with new chains also. I need to know by tomorrow midday so i can let hime know. Thanks guys

I have a 1250 that has been repowered with a 16 hp K341, I'm looking to trade. it runs & mows fine. I just don't really need it.

With weights and plow: $250 - $300 is decent. I paid $300 for my 1250 that ran good. No plow or weights. Offer $225 and go from there.

hehehe...is connecticut. Everything is overpriced, and everybody thinks they have a "Collectors Item".
I live here....I've been looking. If it's in the tri-state area, $300 is a steal.
Every one that pops up on CL in this area, goes for atleast $500.
So, $300 is a deal.
If the engine spins, then you're half way there. I'd take it.

aint that the sad truth.:crybaby: yeah i couldnt talk the seller down from $300 so i said "well ive only got one tractor so why not spoil myself" lol. me and him are gunna meet tomorrow to clear the snow out of the way so i can load it up and haul it home. That should be interesting seeing as how all the snow is layered with ice mixed inbetween.

Where are you located? I'd be happy to give you a hand once you've picked it up.
If it hasn't run in a while, first thing to is drain the oil, put 30wt in it to fill.
pull the plug, put about 1/2 a cup in through the hoe, replace the plug, let it sit a week.
if you fix the starter, don't turn the engine over with the plug in.
Get it cranking so it blows all the oil out, then put the plug in, and let it sit a few days.
You'll have no problems if you take those precautions.

Then, change the plug, make sure the gas is new, and fire it up.

Even if you have motor trouble, someone half-mechanical can do an overhaul on the old Kohler K series. I had about $300 in rebuilding my K301A in my 129. That was a new piston, new rings, hone the cylinder, turn the crank, and a new connecting rod. Havent had to touch the starter, so you might be looking at a $150 to get that worked over. The only other thing to watch is there is a cork gasket between the pump and the motor in the hydrostat that may cause it to leak. I am headed for that project this spring after the snow stops and before the grass starts to grow. Good luck
