You don't watch many You tube videos do you? Hidden video of service paid for but not done. Video of rather expensive vehicles with many miles, never even an oil or air filter change. Lets not forget windshield washer fluid in the oil or transmission or brakes. Diesel in gas, gas in diesel, DEF in who knows what. I am only going to mention Just Rolled In as a channel to really make you think about that vehicle coming down the road at a high rate of speed in your direction, front or back.

In the 1950's and before the owners manual told you how to adjust the valves and probably the points.
In the 2020's the owners manual tells you not to drink the engine or battery fluids.

In the information age, there are a lot of people that are not very informed, they have no common sense and they let these people drive.

These comments are all over the place. IMO!
Humans are a special kind of species. Most are Lazy by nature. Some are argumentative, just because. Especially in today's information age, and in the Forum World. We've all heard what "opinions are worth"! It definitely takes all kinds. Doesn't matter how you sell it, or what you do, you're not gonna please everyone! IMHO!!! :)

I usually try to list everything I've done. Below is an example of one of my ads.

I have Murray lawn tractor for sale. It appears to be about a 1990 model. It has a 12.5HP Briggs & Stratton engine that runs great, a 6 speed transmission that works as it should and 40” mower deck. Battery is a few years old but does hold a charge however it will most likely need to be replaced next season. All tires hold air. No hour meter on this model.

Fully serviced including:

Fresh oil change
New air filter
New fuel filter
New spindle bearings
Blades sharpened and balanced

This tractor is completely ready to use and needs nothing. Would be a nice cheap tractor for up north at the cabin.
First $250 makes it yours. Will consider your old riding lawnmower for trade in, running or not.

It amazes me when I post something like this how many people will contact me with questions clearly answered in the ad.

:Cuz they don't read/understand all of it-in too much hurry.

Funny, I just had this interaction today. Here is a screenshot of the ad in question.

And here is the conversation:

These are the type of people that make me look both ways when crossing a 1 way street.

PT Barnum had it all figured out a long time ago.
You can please part of the people most of the time.
You can please most of the people part of the time.
But you can't please all of the people all of the time.

Sad that these people live amongst us....Maybe I'm just old fashioned and have lost patience over the years w/ all the dumb crap I see and hear.
"Can't do this/I don't understand/do it again?/But I'm not too brite..and on and on...
One of the many reasons I stepped down as an Operations Supervisor at my last F/T job.......and way happier afterward-made more $$ ,too.

looks like all the Craigslist folks are on FB now. I swear I deal with a lot of these people, too. Comes with the territory I guess.

A word of caution to @snowplowdog1288
I read your posts with a lot of interest and I feel like I learn from them. However, I might suggest refraining from posting any personal details about customer interactions such as the one above, more so negative ones than positive ones. I’ve seen MTF threads come up A LOT in google search results in the past several years. You never know what people (particularly your customers and potential customers) might run across, and find themselves unwittingly in a negative spotlight. I recall you considering taking your “hobby to business,” which I think would be awesome!!! I love watching small businesses grow. Just want to be careful about posts like this that might bite you.

You know they got educated. Where the dumb ones. But they can't read or think for themselves. If not a social media item it can't be true. Or the my computer experience came from gaming.
I am probably already in trouble so I am going to stop there.

Whenever I list one of my machines for sale I try to list everything that I did to it before putting it up for sale. I don’t know that it necessarily adds value but it does make it more appealing to buyers knowing they can just take it home and use it without having to do anything to it.

One that I have for sale right now, I replaced the head gasket because it failed. I noted that in the ad and got questioned about it. More specifically, I was asked why I would replace a head gasket for no reason, because head gaskets don’t “just fail” there must be something else wrong with it

Anyway, I feel like these types of things should be known to the buyer and they can then make the most informed decision on their purchase. Am I wrong? Are some things better left unsaid?
Excellent question. I've spent alot of hours debating this one. I personally try to be very honest with everything I know about an item for sale. I realize most people are not mechanically inclined and if I fail to mention an issue that causes them problems and expense, I feel pretty bad. I have missed alot of potential sales due to my honesty, but there is a good side. I currently have a JD 316 for sale. I finally got a 4 way hydraulic plow for it after 5 years of owning it and I can't wait to push some snow this year. My wife is expecting me to sell it, but after compiling a 2 page list of every single thing that is wrong with it and sharing it with potential buyers, I'm still anxiously awaiting the first snow.
