I replaced this pulley but when I engaged the blades worked fine for a little then the bolt and nut tighted it self so much that the pulley doesn’t spin. What is wrong am I missing a part.

I'd guess there's a spacer missing or the wrong size . What is the model of machine ?

I found this could be what’s wrong bearings seized up cheap Amazon pulley.

Yeah that was before I found out I was missing a spacer. I put one in and it ran fine until the bearing issue

When I get the new pulley with new bearings do I tighten that bolt really tight

Tighten per standard torque chart based on bolt size.

The bolt should be pretty tight, and the pulley should turn easy and smooth when it's tight.

Ok I think I might have broken something in the pto cause it won’t lock in place how can I tell what needs to be replaced. I ordered a new pulley with bearings.
What do you mean by "the pto won't lock into place"? The electric clutch will be mounted on the end of the engine crankshaft. If that's what you are talking about, post some pics of it and what you think isn't "locking" into place.

I will look at it tomorrow but before I noticed the double pulley bearings where seized the pto level kicked out. I have the deck off now to replace the pulley but I wanted to see if the pto is still good so I tried to engage it with the deck off and it doesn’t lock in place
Sorry, if you have a manual pto engagement setup, IDK how your setup works. I can just suggest perhaps looking at the parts diagrams for the machine, and perhaps the operators manual, to find out how the parts go and what adjustments there are for the setup.
