I fry the big ones that are pithy too. they are great for that. some of ours were like golf ball size but cooked and fried great. Not bad tasting either,--- just different! lol!
Still replanting stuff that didnt grow here, --- rained all day yesterday so now gotta wait til it dries out again and also gotta mow and spray again. **** weeds!

So we went to fry up some potatoes last night and found the bag was mostly full of heavily eyed potatoes. Well we have some room in the garden so I grabbed the cultivator and tore through the section that’s empty yet. After I was satisfied, I pulled the center two shanks and stuck my hiller in the center to dig a row. Then dropped in 16 russets and then covered them. I need to figure out storage for the harvest.

For the most part it’s just dirt and weeds

My batch of red potatoes is looking good. My first and second batch of corn looks ok, minus what the deer have been nibbling on. I’ll try to get some pictures tonight.

Ha! I meant of the tools and process! But sure, if you want us to look at your dirt and weeds...

Here’s how I dig the furrow for the potatoes. A down and a back pass opens it up nicely.

And here’s how I cover them. And obviously hill them when they get tall enough.

And here’s my dirt and weeds.

The far end, right 5 rows was planted April 15. This end of those 5 was planted May first. The 4 full rows just to the left is what I planted last Monday.
I was surprised tonight. The corn that I planted last Monday is already poppin. There’s 73 of them up. So I did a total count. 403.

Here’s the potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, zukes.

Im hoping to do a little weeding and grass clipping mulching tomorrow or Wednesday after work.

Wow, ok, so I’ve been thinking the garden could use a little rain. Watering it is ok, but it seems rain makes it grow a lot better. Last two years summer has been really dry. Well I went out to give the dog a bath and it started getting dark…. And next thing I know it starts pouring!

Apparently it was a localized thing.

I haven’t checked the rain gauge yet, but I’d say it was at least an inch of rain.

Edit: Just shy of an inch in just over 20 minutes.

Wow, that's AWFULLY local!!!

Please convert @PA318Guy to whatever religion / seance / cult (Ouija Board?) got you this hyper-localized result!

That way, he can get as much snow as he wants without affecting the rest of us!!!

Finished mulching the Pumpkins & Ornamental corn last evening. No more cultivating/hoeing for the rest of the Summer. Will do a walk through every few days to check up close, and spray when needed. Gotta' love it when you have to hunt for weeds if any happen to pop up. Pumpkins grew a good bit in a week.

Tomatoes & Peppers aren't big enough to mulch around yet, probably at least 2 weeks before having to do that.

5 different kinds of onions this year. the close up pix ones are short day 1015y texas sweet . They say I cant grow short day varieties here but I do anyway. This year wind and hail hurt the crop bad and they wont make near what they do normally but we take what we get.

Corn is just starting to make ears except for the end of the rows where the deer grazed before I could get my fence up. It should finish early enough that I need to get working on ideas for my second planting.
Where are you that the corn is this tall already? In PA, mine is just now knee high.
Profile says North Carolina, but that's not Red Clay soil you have there.
