Hi there,
I’m adding a Summit Hydraulics 3rd function kit to my CS2520. I’d like to connect the power to a switched source, rather than directly to the battery as the instructions suggest. Does anyone know where I can find a switched 12v source on the tractor? I’ve already used the key switched 12v source on the right rear fender for LED lights on the ROPS.

Thanks!

I would suggest using that same switched source, perhaps controlling a relay (relay uses very little power, other side of the relay connects through fuse to the battery) that then powers your 3rd function kit.

I suggest using the relay, so that you don't have too much current draw on the original switched circuit, and you can use the right size fuse and wiring for your new circuit.

I agree with Dave. On the left side of the engine bay you will find the 12VDC bus. There should be room for one or two additional relays on that cluster. You can add a Bosch Style 5-Pin 12V Relay Switch [SPDT] [30/40 Amp] to operate the accessory. Be sure to add an in-line fuse as well. Here is an Amazon link:

Thanks Dave and Gary! Great ideas! I’ll put some thought into these ideas and see what I find. Can you share a photo of the 12vdc bus on left engine bay? I recall all of the relays that came on the tractor are located forward of the radiator above the battery. I believe I saw the fuse box on the fwd right side of the engine bay.

There is a photo in this thread where I added a relay.

Widbey is correct fellas.

The relays on the 20 series are now just in front of the right lower corner (as you face) of the radiator.
A practical evolution from Kioti, presumably due to customer feedback ;)

Otherwise Widbey ... Gary and Dave's advice is solid (y)

Post Script;

I just used your link Gary and ordered those relays ... ;)
Thanks 'ol friend 🤝

I always find a use for those relays. For example, it's a known fact that the wiring on vintage Honda motorcycles doesn't deliver the full power to the coils. By using one of those relays I was able to supply direct power to the coils from the battery using the existing coil wires as the trigger. So that's a mod I make on all of my vintage bikes now.

Well I ended up directly wiring to the battery for now. It’s far less than ideal, but I’m low on time and I need my tractor functioning rather than sitting in my shop getting the accessory wiring perfected. The bigger accessory wiring perfection project will have to come later, maybe once the busy tractor season slows down. I’ll plan to set up a relay based secondary accessory system. Thanks for all the help and great ideas! More to come in the future.

Also, if anyone is going to order the Summit hydraulics kit I’d be willing to provide my thoughts to you. The pressure and tank hoses were incorrect for the CS2520 and required me to buy separate adapters, swap some fittings, and modify a hose which was too long.
I tried to give this product feedback to Summit and they were kind of receptive… kind of.

I can't imagine dealing with the issues you are dealing with living on Whidbey Island (guess based on your name). I actually lived on the Eastern side of the state for many years when I was younger. I ended up going with the factory 3rd function since I read about other Kioti owners having issues with the Summit kit. It would've saved me about $400 to go with the Summit kit vs Kioti dealer installed but if I had to deal with hose hassles that would've been a pain. Adding a grapple to the order I know it will all work out of the box.
