The question comes up of what exactly are you attempting to use with the hitch?

you may be able to adjust it down low enough.... the upper bracket can be moved down. question is "how low"... what is the lowest position compared to the bottom bracket... this will then tell you if it will work.

You see the X540 has a rear frame bracket that is not as tall as the LTs... this is so you can access the transmission for service. If you look at the pic of the hitch you are looking at, that upper bracket appears to be higher up than the height of the frame on the X540. But you can also see the multiple holes that allow you to lower the upper-bracket position.

The price is right on that hitch bracket, compared to any other option or "make your own", so I'd be inclined to "make it work", even if some mods were required.

Thanks for that info about the rear frame bracket, I totally missed that ! I would love to find something more like that second picture you posted ! But like you said I could make it work if I had to.

that lower pic was a "home made" item.

You may be able to find a universal bracket that is used on ATVs that will work.
Like this one for example: Kolpin 85100 Unversal Irs 2-Inch Receiver Hitch
it's $100 CAD on amazon.ca... probably $60 USD on amazon.com

I recently installed it on my ATV. It's awesome!... and heavy duty. It may need some "mods" to work on the tractor, but I would not be concerned about it at all, if I was in your shoes. It is a universal mount one, so it comes with many parts and items to adapt it to many different machines.
Also - you may read some bad reviews where people complain about it not fitting right on XXX ATV that they own... you can ignore all that - the complainers are those that think you should be able to install something like this in 5 minutes or less, and with nothing more than a pair of pliers.

That second picture in post #4 is my receiver hitch that stays on the tractor all year long. Got it built by a small welding shop near where I live. Probably cost about 70 bucks all in with the hardware. The 2 inch receiver tube was on sale at Princess Auto (canadian version of Harbour Freight) and the welding guy did the rest with my design. Holds 4 suitcase weights for winter and receiver for my utility trailer or other pull type attachments. I have a couple different receivers for tall or lower attachments. Probably been on the tractor for 8 years with no issues.
