Recently purchased this 1965 MF135 diesel. It starts and runs great, 8480 original hours with a Kuchyt loader. Here will be the thread to keep track of my most likely slow progress. Picking it up next weekend

So far i know it needs power steering work (unsure if it needs a new pump or something else) and its in rough shape but other than that its in good working order. Heres a few pictures of what she looks like

First plan is to address the power steering and remove the forks, i will eventually build a bigger bucket with a removable single fork system but for now that little thing will do. Slowly i will do some work here and there and make it into a nice workable tractor

power steering! my 135 is grunt and twist steering! hope it's good to you! my gas job will start at -30 after sitting for months ,never seen anything so reliable!
Yea it’s a pain to turn right now, no weight in the bucket and you’re burning your arms trying to get a 1/4 turn lol it starts great in the cold for an old diesel, I’ll have to get a video and post it once I get it home

Well i got her home today! Ran it around a bit and its working good! The power steering definitely needs to be fixed asap!

The alternator charges great, put my spare commercial battery in it and it starts great now without needing a boost.

Going to take a look at the power steering tomorrow hopefully if it turns out to be nice and take the forks off if i get time ill move some snow!

Heres some pictures of her again

So i had it working a little bit today but i couldnt get the hitch to operate (aside from the fact im not very knowledgeable in old tractor operation with this draft control and such), in ground speed the pto will turn but in engine speed it doesnt, whatever i tried i couldnt get the hitch to go up which id like to get it working (or know how to properly operate it) so i can get a grading blade for it.

If anyones got any info to help me out thatd be great! its too cold to work on it outside so ill have to pull it in the garage if i want to get anything done to it.

The Massey 135 with that Perkins diesel is arguably one of the best tractors Massey has ever made. I love the look of it also thanks for posting pics.

Agreed i love the look of them! I had an old MF12 lawn tractor years ago, thing was a beast! i ended up hot rodding it with a Honda GX270 out of a go cart when the rear end started going out of it. There wasnt many usable parts as we got it for free out of the scrap but it worked for years pulling a set of harrows around the driveway

Do you know if the Draft Control lever is all the way back?

I'm no expert and don't have a loader on mine. wondered where the hydraulic power for the loader is taken from and if there's some type of diverter valve installed. the one here the hitch quit working. pulled the top off the trans. and there was a coupler that joins two shafts together that had moved uncoupling the shafts , I'm assuming the shaft is turning the pump for hydraulics because it worked after putting it back together! maybe that's your steering issue too. I don't have PS.

The power steering has a pump on the front that controls it, pushing fluid to the steering gear then that pushes it to the hydraulic cylinders on the tie rods, from what I gather looking at the lines, if I have time tonight I’ll start it up and see if I can get it to work if I can get the levers in the right position, if not maybe I’ll check the shaft you described

Well i got those god awful forks cut off tonight, had a bit of trouble with the hydraulics froze up but the tiger torch got er moving good! ill definitely have to address that in the summer, a complete fluid flush is definitely in order along with new shifter boots

Again tried to operate the hitch and it wouldnt move, there looks to be a diverter valve below the seat (The pressure line to the loader control valve) It is in the Open position i assume to run the loader but it doesnt move very var, maybe 1/4 inch back to where it would be closed. it was froze up aswell and was a pain to get moving that far. I dont know if this is normal, ive never tried with any other tractor but i can lift the hitch up by hand to its full extent, i would assume it would have hydraulic resistance but again ive never tried with anything else, and everything i work on is either moved by final drives or cylinders lol

The tractor is in my garage now so ill tinker with it this weekend once it warms up, been through a cold spell this week.

my 135 broke the cast square pump drivers because of the bad shifter boot and ice in trans ,not sure if the same setup but likely is. not a very hard job to fix. pull the top off trans and have a look see!

Yea I definitely need to fix that, the pto is full of water, it’s lookin like milk! And it’s really low, not even at the add mark on the dipstick!

Is the trans and pto all together or are they separate cases?

Well I got the hitch working!

It was that diverter valve under the seat, having the garage at 10 degrees helped thaw the valve enough to pull it out all the way. Took me by surprise cause it started coming up while I had it running lol

Going to pick up some hydraulic oil this week to flush the system next weekend hopefully!

Next question, do these have any down pressure on the hitch? It didn’t seem to have any while I was working it, I’d prefer if it did for my grader that I want to get but if not I’ll just have to weigh it down
