I'm looking into a QT17 that a guy called me about this afternoon. It needs a repower. Which way is the engine set in a QT? Can I use any engine provided it has a stub shaft?

I have a QT17 also, I like it. Still a decent heavy duty tractor back in 1980
I like the older ones better. The engine, however, sits in there backwords from the older models, with the flywheel facing backwords. I repowered mine with a Kohler Magnum 18hsp, from a 1990 Cub. Dan..
I believe the Q tractors all had the counter rotating implements as well. I've been told they are a little hard to find. Since the engine is in the frame the opposite direction of the other Bolens the PTO spins the opposite way.
