Need some assistance...

After getting the last of my leaves picked up, I removed the deck on my JD X360 and proceeded to put on the 44" blower for the upcoming MA snow storm. Had to change the blower's belt which wasn't too bad and the rest was fine..like years before. I tried lifting the blower and it won't raise at all. Not sure where to look. JD dealer said to check the rocker arm/shaft which it is positioned forward. I took off the linkage and tried moving the hydraulics and it didn't appear to move anything. Any assistance from some pros would be helpful. Thanks

Does your power steering work? Check the fluid level.

I'm sure the height adjuster is in the lowest setting or you couldn't remove the mower deck. And The rock shaft arm is forward or you couldn't attach the lift arm from the blower..SOOO
Did it lift the mower deck before you started ??? :tango_face_surprise

Nephew change the X360 NP for the same storm :tango_face_grin:

Some guy at a JD dealer told you to adjust the rockshaft, cause he had just adjusted his X540 the other day. If that was what he told you, it was me. :tango_face_smile: Try setting the height adjustment to the lowest, lowering the hydraulics all the way down. Then look at the positioning of that shaft at both attachment points. It should be all the way forward in the part by your foot and all the way to the back on the piece that hooks to the blower. If there's too much play in it, then it won't allow you to lift as much as you should.

If you lower the hydraulics all the way the piece by your foot should be forward, when you lift them all the way up that piece should be all the way back. That would mean your hydraulics are working properly.

Haha that's awesome... I will give that a try and see where I'm at. First thing I've had to deal with it since I purchased it there in 2013. Thanks

So I made the adjustments you mentioned which weren't that bad. I am not getting any movement from the rockshaft at all. When I press the hydraulic switch up or down all I hear is... what I'm assuming to be the pump with nothing else happening. I feel like I should hear something else..like the rockshaft attempting to work

Sounds like it's time for the seat pan to come off :tango_face_sad: If both conditions Bill and I said had to be. BUT

Disconnect the blower first from the rock shaft. Lift the lift control, do the mower deck arms go up and down. BUT like I said you would only be in the full down ( past 1 in the black area) to remove the deck !! ( strange )

This is odd since the deck was functioning fine and you did lift/lower it. Look at that manual I linked and double check the initial installation of the part that is supposed to move the rockshaft back and forth. Just in case when you pulled something else off when you removed the blower at the end of last year. The stuff I'm now talking about is under "Installing the front lift assembly" in that manual I linked. There are a couple of parts/pins that could be causing it too.

I have to think that since the deck worked 100% for up and down that it's something simple that has become disconnected.

To narrow your troubleshooting down, check the lift arms for your mower deck. Do they go up and down when you use the hydraulic lift? If they do go up and down then we know the hydraulic cylinder and hoses are ok, and that you likely just have a mechanical connection problem after the rockshaft.

[Edit … I see that Katt asked this same question, but I haven't seen a response yet]

I had raised mine once after removing the deck, but without the blower on. It jammed the linkage and wouldn’t come down. It takes the weight of the blower to make things come down. If the arm on the left side where the linkage connects stays back, you’ll have to get it loose and moving forward to connect the linkage.

This may or may not be your problem. A couple of years ago when I put the 44 blower on my X310, the blower wouldn't lift although the mower deck lift worked fine. What happened is there is a rod that operates the part that lifts the snow blower must have fallen out during the summer. Think it is held in place by just one jam nut. Went to my JD dealer and they had the rod in stock. I think they said this has happened before. Replaced the rod and put jam nuts on each side and no problem since. This is not the long rod that connects directly to blower but one that is under the tractor. It is about 10 inches long. Since the X360 is basically the same as the X310, this could be your problem as it matches all your symptoms. Al

Thanks Al, that same shorter rod fell out last summer on me as well. I found it in the yard not knowing what it was but after some digging around located where it belonged but didn't know what it did until I read the snowblower manual
