This is my first post on this forum. I recently bought a 2000 Murray 42" 14.5 HP rider. This is my first lawn tractor. I'm pretty happy with it as it was in decent condition and it cuts pretty nicely.

My question is does anyone know how to adjust the parking brake? I have adjusted the brake so that it works well, but when I want to engage the parking lever, I have to jam the pedal really hard down to the floor in order to have the lever engage. It is pretty awkward and difficult to engage and disengage.

Any advice would be most appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Thats the way mine is to, you have to mash it all the way down and then it will work. The onlly time i use it is when i have a load behind it or somthing that will push me.

Mine is like that too, I only use so i can get off with out it shuting off.

The one on my RER is the same way, the only reason I use it is to start it without sitting on it when I am working on it.
