Yarddog,

Lets see.. I bought mine used with 1000 hours on it and paid 6 grand for it.. Had it a season and a half, sold it with 1080 hours on it for..... 6 grand....

Yes it's worth it! The Liquid Cooled Kaw motors are very, very, long lived, basically a high end ATV motor, not the consumer garbage you get in consumer grade affair. I had a Cab on mine with a heater, a 2 stage snow thrower, a power angle dozer blade etc... It was only 2WD but with weights, chains and the Diff Locker, it never got stuck!

The 425 is the little brother of the 445 and 455. 445 has a couple more HP, EFI and bigger wheels/tires. 455 is diesel. All three are very stout heavy GT's that are capable of doing a lot of work. They can take a model 45 (I think) front loader. Of course the attachments (snowblower, blade) are more expensive because they are hydraulic.

Thanks Slkpk & Jim!

To anyone who's shopping for one of these who wants a photo of a particular part, just let me know and I'd be happy to take a shot and post it. One funny thing, on the mower & box, the model number says d26b54 instead of d26kh54. (checked under the hood, it is the fr730v kawasaki, can't see the tranny, so hope it's still the k66y)

It's rainy days here so I don't get to take it for a spin yet. It is supposed to clear up on Saturday, so hopefully the rain doesn't keep up and my deck does! I'll let you know how it goes.

As for getting it off the crate any suggestions? I was thinking to just drive it off unless someone thinks that's a bad idea or will tweak the deck.

Great pix. maybe a makeshift ramp with a couple 2x6's if the deck won't clear the pallet.

I don't know about getting it off the crate Sam. I read about someone having the same question and after using a crowbar and saw to get the crate broken down enough to get the wheels on the ground and the mower off it, they found directions under the seat on " how to remove mower from crate " :(.
So you might want to look around for something like that.

The making a ramp from 2X6's sounds good too :fing32: .

EDIT: Well never mind, guess you already got it solved :).

thanks BushBoneYard, that's a great idea.

I just started reading the manual and saw that they actually have printed instructions for getting it off the skid on page 6! They recommend rolling off with the tranny disengaged. The control for this is awful flimsy, it's a bent rod, just a little thicker than a coat hanger sticking out of the back. Kind of surprising considering what it does.

Jim, you're on the money! I found it just after posting.

Ah heck...just drive it in the rain. Cleaning it when its new is kinda fun too. You have the patience of a saint. I drove mine around in freezing sleet/snow/rain for an hour. What a mess! :trink39:

Jack up the back end and take a photo of the transmission... I'm curious..

Here's a shot of the flimsy flywheel control and a sticker under the hood

Also noticing that the manual (which reads d26kh54) recommends a champion rc12yc while the underhood has bpr4es (ngk) spark plug and 54oz oil capacity vs 64oz

I think the plugs be interchangeable but ngks run cooler.

Yep K66 alright!

Thanks for taking the time. I wasn't sure if it had the G730 Hydro Gear or K66 and that clears it up.

Holy Cow it takes 1 gallon of oil...seems like a lot to me. Or is that just half a gallon...I dunno? Thanks for posting the pics.

I hope the other gentleman will take his deck off and post some plowing pics and personal impressions.
