Hey Guys, not an issue yet, but noticed that after I shut off my tractor I've been getting little drips on my floor of the garage from under the flywheel cover that drips down the frame...not big, but only happens after use then stops.

10 hp Tech. ( AMF 1010)

any ideas?

There is a seal to the crank shaft (and an o-ring if I remember right) that may be leaking. You can still buy the seals at Jacks small engine.

Just what I was thinking...thanks, its not bad enough now to worry about thus will just keep cardboard under this area. oh, by the way..nice job to the deck....you've gone way beyond the call of duty here....keep up the nice work.

Note, the last owner of this machine replaced the bigger seal off the engine shaft that holds the pully, which saves me all the work.

IMO I'd think this would be the harder end to change, you'll need to pull the flywheel cover off then pull the flywheel off inorder to get access to the seal. I'd change it soon as oil and dirt being blown thru out the motor is going to surely make a mess in behind the covers and into the cooling fins.Larry

Yes, not looking forward to removing the flywheel, will ride this out until it gets really bad, but for now it just a few drops and I don't use it more than 3 hours a weekend anyway as it's not set up for cutting grass, just for pulling my trailer for wood and stonewall work.

Still, this machine is far better than any sit-down machine made today.

PS, when you do it, I would also order a head-gasket and the case cover gasket. Might as well get in there and clean it all up and put in new gaskets while you are at it. They are easy enough to do. Mine did not leak when I bought it, but the case gasket was so bittle it would crumble.

PS, may want to buy a couple head gaskets so you have spares... They are cheap and will be hard to get some day soon.

Good point, seems I have spare parts for all my other (toys) might as well start my collection on the AMF. If anything, my sons will have enough stock to keep her running for their kids.

Thanks for the insight.:thanku:
