I have been offered this for $150 OBO. No deck, unknown running condition, and I haven't seen it in person. Think it's worth the effort?

Side note: I love that gas tank someone set up on it!:fing32:

Well, it looks like a fun project to me! Just wondered if it would be worth it. My wife says it looks like junk to her! She should know better than that! That just makes me want to make it into something nice!
rbaker6336: When you say pre '65, do you mean year as in 1965 or do you mean model? I don't know that much about Craftsman mowers so that might be a dumb question.

yep 50 sounds good to me small fry a lot of these parts tractors out there I am getting ready for a big sale stay tuned and see if i have something anyone wants

its a mid late 70's.i would go at least a hundred on it if it is complete.they are stout tractors and pretty simple to fix and use.i could part it out for over a couple of hundred.just my .2 worth

I am going to look at it Sunday and will report back. I have been doing some searching. Is there any way to tell if it is an "ST", "GT", or such? Is there any difference? From the ones I have seen that others have, and there are some nice ones on here, they look like tough tractors!

Well...you edited before I could post! I saw that you agreed with the wife, though.
:ROF
You're not supposed to do that!!!:fing20: :sidelaugh

Haha, I reread it and considered some of the "treasures" I drag home and thought that statement might have been a little hypocritical. I know that stuff has different value in different areas. $150 would buy you a pretty good GT around here. I got my 16-6 for $50, with tiller and snowblower. All it needed was a battery and a fuel system clean up.

Well, I wouldn't take it that way. I thought it was funny even though you may be right! Around here it seems there aren't that many "older" tractors. I have yet to find one under $100!

If you like it and consider it a fair deal in your area, then I say go for it. If the engine is basically healthy, the rest is cosmetic. Looks like the nose is broken and sagging.

man. what about it doesnt look right it looks all bent with an arch.

I'd look for one that was a little older, with the better nose and dash tower that aren't all plastic, and the gas tank under the hood. IMO the only thing that is possibly better about the newer suburban type tractors are the Onan engine, this one has the tecumseh, $150 is way too much around here for that tractor with no attachments.
