I'm looking forward to your progress. I've been letting my kids read several of the threads to keep them moving on their 990s.

I need to go back through Zelda's thread and figure out the dash repair. Both of ours are broken. I wonder how many dashes are cracked from failure to use the latches?

As a side project and hobby, I am working on producing a cast aluminum dash replacement. I still have a ways to go but I have been trying to get into metal casting for a while. No idea what they would cost but you would all be the first to know.

I am located in the Grand Rapids area, town called Belding. And thanks for the comments they really help keep it going. And they especially keep the pictures flowing.

What a great tractor to watch get restored. Thanks for the thread.

I look forward to the dash project, should be fun. Here are a couple more photos of the progress. I included my blaster, $110 at TSC, worth it!

Good luck on the job, they are still a little scarce in MI.

Very nice start to your project--and good eye on detail so far!!:fing32:
Rock on, man!!

watch putting grase in your steering parts, i think years of dried up grease build up caused my problem, took 3 washers to shim it back out for a perfect fit now i will clean all old grease out from between gear teeth before i put any new grease in, while the mower is off before hooking up snow blower, when hooking up roto tiller, anyone have any similar experience with their steering?

Wow long hiatus from this project, turns out life came up and I couldn't ignore it. Anyway I am back on track picking up the old blasting and painting routine. The frame is done ($20) and now I am doing the rest so I can start reassembly.

By the way I found a good method to get the disc brake off if anyone has had trouble, mine was terribly stuck. Anyway more to follow over the upcoming weeks and months. And I am still pursuing the aluminum dash, slowly....

(sorry for being gone so long guys, is it weird I feel like I abandoned you all!!)

Glad to see you back here Rusty. I have been following this thread all along and keep up the good work.

That was a great video. I am going to warn you now, the battery tray will be a pita to put back on. You might want to have an extra set of hands to help.

Ok really starting to make a lot of progress, there are just so many parts.

All four bolts that mount the seat spring broke during dis-assembly. I was able to remove two and the others broke further and had to be drilled out. Currently I have one broken bolt in the cast iron bracket that holds the steering gears, probably going to take that to a shop because I don't want the cast to break and it is really stuck.

Over halfway with parts, as soon as I get the parts with decals to a shop to get copied I will be able to clean and paint those and then start assembly. Lots of odds and ends left but a ton done already.
