Are they worth the extra cost? Do you recommend a JD one such as the optional one on my 318 or are there better ones in the after market?

I really like having a suspension seat. Saves my back and I dont have to drive with one hand on the fender like I have in the past.
Mine is the Michigan seat slkpk mentioned. Its same as the John Deere seat except all black. I bought mine when Northern had them on sale.

Thats what I have on my 2520. Its a cheaper alternative, but I wouldnt buy another one. Course I tend to :1106: from time to time too. :lalala:

I bought and fabbed brackets to add the very same seat to my old Craftsman mower before I got the JD.
Don't waste your $$..
I found the adjustment terrible. If you get it too tight it wouldn't move. Too loose and you found yourself bottoming out all the time.
I let the seat go with the tractor when I got rid of it for parts.
