Anybody make their own weights, or make weight boxes? I'm thinking about making some wheel weights. I work with lead a lot. I have big kettles, and pouring equipment. I know how to handle it. I have a couple spare runs rims and I'm going to make some sort of liner, or coating for the rim. Form it up to allow space behind it for wheel studs and nuts, add anchors studs, or tubing to run the bolts through, then pour. What do you guys think? Lead is way heavier than cast. And I can get a lot of it. You ever see someone fish with a 22 oz. sinker? Lol.

I think it's a good idea. Someone just posted this in one of my threads. http://www.mytractorforum.com/showthread.php?p=2787377#/topics/315481?page=1
I like the idea of cheap wheel weighs. Also love the idea of making my own stuff. If you have the time I say cast a set up. Worst case there junk and you melt them into 200 sinkers. I was thinking of making a mould of the rim and sand cast it. I've done some lead work and it likes holes. If you want to cast in the rim you might want to steel plate the bottom.

Wayne, I've spent the last several minutes viewing your pics and video's and I must say that is one awesome tractor you got there !. It pulled those bushes out like they were toys and never spun a wheel once, plus the snow removing was great too. Loved the way it sounds and the dual exhaust's & tires look great !. I congratulate you on a well designed and thought out machine you came up with and :thanku: for sharing with us :trink40: .
No kidding... Seeing this after that power rake thing just blows my mind.
Does this thing actually rake stuff up or just take a dozen passes and wear the leaves out?

Mike

I was thinking about sacrificing the rim and doing just that. I'd have to build up the area around the lug nuts for spacing anyway. Seal the anchors with fire rope gaskets or something similar. Have to either set anchor posts to mount them, or support some kinds of sleeves for bolts to pass through. Have you ever tried to drill lead? Don't do it with a drill bit you really like. You're not getting it back. Lol

Built this little Root Ripper for my 140's 3 point. It only digs down about 10", but that's all I needed to tear up these wild roots. Not sure what they are, crossed between a wild chokecherry and a sumac. Roots everywhere, a couple inches below the surface.
Anyway, it works really good! The shank is 1-1/4" sq. solid bar 12 inches long, pinned to a short sleeve welded to an 8 long 2 x 2.

Reworked my sprayer this year. Figured I'd post some pics. Changed the tip setup this year and added a pressure relief valve and gauge. Sprayed last week and again today. The sprayer power is wired to a two prong plug and runs off a switch in the dash. Hole thing works fantastic. Today I built a new hitch for the craftsman. 6-8" longer. Just needs paint. Allows me to jack knife the sprayer pivoting it so tight one tire stays stationary.

That's a slick looking ripper! Also good for neighbour disputes.

Thanks CowboyBob! I like your sprayer setup.

Wow, that's a serious sprayer! What's the purpose of the big black pipe coming out of the top/rear?

Mike

Using a 55 gallon drum it has two holes. The way I set it up is the bottom one is 3/4" NPT that goes to the pump. The top is a 2" NPT. The top hole has a valve with garden hose connection for filling and the pump return ties in as well. The big black pipe sticking up from all that plumbing is a cam locked vent/filler. When filling with water I undo the cam lock to pour my chemical in so it mixes good. To spray it gets put back on. I made it tall enough so sloshing water won't come out the three vent holes I drilled in the top. As an added feature I have a sponge stuffed up there so air goes in and out but water won't splash out. I tend to over think and engineer everything!

Very well thought out, thanks for the explanation.
