Hi friends,

I am pulling the rear hubs on my '77 2414 PK to change the seals. As you can imagine, the first hub was really stuck, it took everything my 10 ton hydraulic puller had to remove it. The second has not budged yet.

After the shaft and loose hub are cleaned up, am I going to be able to slip or lightly tab this hub back on, or is it designed with a press fit?

If it is a press fit, it looks like I'll have to take the cover off to press this on correctly without damaging what is inside the gear case. I need to know, because if I have to take the side covers off the final drives anyway to install the hubs. I may as well remove the cover on the side that hasn't pulled free yet, and take the whole works to a shop with a bigger press than what I have, to get this hub removed.

Anyone who has experience with these, I'd greatly appreciate your input.

Thanks, Daniel

On my Jim Dandy axle, I removed the snap ring they came off with a standard wheel puller.
I cleaned the rust off the axle and the inside of the hub with emery paper and they slipped right back on.

Thanks for the reply, I have that puller type as well, for pulling the hubs on my old jeeps, and it wont budge the second hub on my power king. I also have a 10 ton hydraulic puller and have had no luck with that either. I am going to follow some advice of another member, and just disassemble the final drives from the inside, and leave that hub on the shaft. It's probably my best option at the moment. Thanks for the suggestion!
