That's hilarious. The ad for the yellow one in Madison says stored indoors and it's clearly sitting outside and is the rustiest POS I have ever seen. They don't get to look like that from being stored inside. I surprised he didn't say "like new".
-I read that add the other day and it floored me. It looks lIke it hasn't moved from the weeds it is sitting in for the last 10 years and the moron says "good shape.....stored indoors." Craigslist is really becoming a PITA to buy and sell things. So many scams, so many games, and so many dishonest descriptions.

-As the guys have mentioned, make sure you are buying the right 42 blower to fit your machine. The foot lift, hydro lift, and arm lift are way different and will not interchange without mucho $$$. There also may be pieces that are still bolted to the tractor like an up-stop or things like that.

When you try to put the 42 on the LX series i.e. ( LX188 ) I had to remove the up stop and there a mounting kit that is getting pretty scarce if not NLA. BM 18977 ( just mentioning it if any LX people are following).
Ironically mine came off a GT 235 and I was lucky it had the operators manual. 56 pages long to mount and unmount. Unbelievable. :maddd:

You take them where you find them. This one was a lot of rust and was damaged.
So I had to strip all the way down, replace some parts, belts and repaint the whole thing.
Here, It's almost ready for the black cover after a shake down trial. If I put the up stop back on it would be ready to mount right on your GT 235.

I finally got enough time to go take a look at these. The yellow one was on the way to go look at the black one. It was even worse than the pictures look. Completely rusted through in places. I got the black one, two mounted tires and chains for $250.
Right now, the schedule is tighter than before.
Project plans:
1. straighten the auger as best as possible
2. Straighten the lower corners of the housing as best as possible.
3. Drill a hole to stop the cracks, apply JB weld because I don't have time to take it to work and do it right. I'll do that next year.
4. What else do I need to do before winter?

Thanks

The lower corners and auger can be straightened out with an bigger adjustable wrench, really!! Just adjust to the thickness of the metal and bend small amounts at a time, follow with a hammer and dolly or wood if not available. A welding shop can fix those cracks in a few minutes, maybe on the side for less $$ if you tell them you brought cash.

zufrieden,

Here are a few videos of my restore/repair of my 42" SS snow blower attachment. I got mine for $300 bucks, but it needed a lot of work. I tried going $250 but the guy wouldn't do it. He bought it for parts to get his foot lift SS 42" going on his GT275. Spent little over a month to repair it last year. Like you, there was a lot of rust, bent auger, broken welds, rusted bearings, broken hinge for auger head. I added in the electric chute rotation kit, a linear actuator for the auger head tilt, and two 1200 lumen maxima worklights.

Just used it for the first time this weekend, and with the flapper mod, that thing throws snow just like my two stage Ariens!! Impressive! I have a GT225 with a 15HP Kohler. While it does the job, I could use a few more ponies to really hog it down the driveway. Got to take it it slower than my Ariens 30" with about 8 inches of snow which chops then throws due to the two stage. I got 100lbs of wheel hub weights and another 4 suitcase weights with chains on the rear end. This thing can push some snow! No regrets at all.

$250-$300 cost for the condition mine was in (including the manual lift kit, but I think i was lucky the guy included it, YMMV) I believe was fair
$100 bucks in parts/paint. (includes electircal wiring for lights too)
$225 for the electric chute rotation kit (hard to find!)
$100 for the linear actuator
$60 for two Maxxima work lights, 1200 lumens/each

I am looking foir a snow blower for my GT235. I had to pass on one earlier this year and I'm still kicking myself. I have a line on two right now, I don't know if they will fit.
1. Single stage off of a L130, $600. When I contacted the seller, he could not find a model number.
2. 2 stage is off of a LT 160, $175. I am still waiting for a model number.

I have seen a thread about this somewhere before, I just can't find it right for nothin right now.

Thanks
We’re selling a snow blower that we bought to fit a GT 235 that we already have. It’s a John deer snow blower that attaches.

His location is in Wisconsin, where is yours?

I have a gt235 lawn tractor can I make a 38” s.t.f500 snowblower fit? Serial #M03280X010056
The connect to the garden tractor completely different. The blower that goes on the GT235 has a long frame that connects on the front and goes all of the way back to the rear. I'd say IF it was even possible it would be way more work and money than it's worth.
