2305 SCV Operation

My 2007 JD 2305 has the 3-point hitch and a 54" belly mower. When I lift the belly mower the 3 point hitch rises too. The SCV lever to my right lifts it pulling back, drops mower deck pushing forward, lever then always returning to center.
QUESTION: Can I assume I can't have the ballast box/3 point hitch attached when the mower deck is attached? I drop the mower deck and the ballast box will drag. Is there a way to keep ballast box/ 3 point hitch elevated while dropping mower deck?

The lever you are using is actually the three point lift lever. The standard lift for the mower uses the three point to lift the mower. With this setup, there is no way to keep the hitch up when lowering the mower. There is an optional independent lift kit available to use your joystick to raise and lower the mower if desired. Not sure if the actual kit is still available since it is not a current model, but parts could be purchased individually.
