A few miles west of the Twin Cities we got another crappy snowfall of one inch of almost liquid water snow. The temperature was 30-31 when it was coming down and the flakes were as big as quarters. Up near my garage doors that face southwest the snow turned to slush from heat accumulated during the day (it was 41F earlier today). It clogged the model 44 blower repeatedly so the rear blade got a workout. Away from the slushy area the blower worked well.

Since it is supposed to be butt numbing cold (11F) with 45 mph winds tomorrow morning I did my neighbor's driveway too. His driveway faces northeast and is shaded by his house during the afternoon. The blower didn't clog once on his driveway.

I would prefer that we get a normal six to twelve inch dry snowfall so the 44 can get its first real workout. If I lived someplace where the snow was always wet I'd park the blower and use a front blade. Looking over my shoulder for the rear blade all the time is a PitA.

At least you got some seat time and thats a lot more than many of us are getting so far this year. I'm hoping for an early spring this year and hope we don't get nailed in March/April. slkpk

My son whom is off from college drove to Cleveland Ohio this morning to spend time with family for a few days. The forecast has it to be in a blizzard watch till Tuesday pm.He's got himself a brand new wrangler with 4 Blizzack snow tires. He can't wait for the snow to fly. Wish I was there. I guess some people have to work the rest of the week.

Wranglers will go anywhere but they don't actually handle that well on snow and ice. I owned a '98 Wrangler for ten years and 110,000 miles. The short wheelbase is really detrimental to stability. It took very little to get the rearend pointing the wrong direction. Still, I loved that Jeep more than any vehicle I've ever owned. Bought it when I lived in Arizona where there are so many places a Jeep will take you for adventure. Sold it a few years after I moved to MN and my kids got into their teenage driving years. It's absolutely the wrong vehicle for novice drivers. The new Wranglers are wider and obviously the four door model is longer. As much as I wanted a four door version back in the 90's, I don't like the way Jeep executed the design. The prototype from American Expedition Vehicles was much better IMO. Regardless of the model, your son will love his Wrangler as much as we love our JD LGT's. I view my X500 as a less costly and more useful replacement for my Wrangler.

We got the same snow here in Wisconsin last night, 1" of wet, heavy, and 90% water content.

I shoveled by hand just in front of my garage doors and pushing that stuff around gets heavy after a while.

Maybe tomorrow just to get some seat time, I'll crank up my X720
just to show it what a crumby winter looks like without snow. :banghead3

Yesterday I started removing some Christmas decorations I had stuck in the lawn. No frost in the ground what-so-ever.

I think the world is coming to the end..........:dunno:

Boy sounds like I got lucky to live in NW Wisconsin, where we finally got some good snow! Spent most of my day yesterday, January 1 clearing 5" on pretty good snow from my and sister's driveways. It was a good day in all with about 4 hours of seat time!!!

That is a lot of snow seat time. How long are the driveways?

yep it doesn't help with the forecast saying that we're in for at least highs in the mid to upper 30's and 40 one of the days this week! i should have torn down the snowcaster and ran a complete rebuild. i obviously have had plenty of time( even getting it in late oct. silly me what was i thinking)

My driveway is close to 1/4 mile in length and my sisters is at best 100 yards but with all the clean up and such it takes awhile. But I was enjoying myself and not in any hurry! :thThumbsU
