I installed the front PTO kit in an x585 which is similair to the 4WD 729. The kit included 2 bearings, and seals, along the the stub shaft and extender shaft that connects to the mid pto shaft.

The bearings and seals are not under the caps, no oil ran out when the caps were removed. The bearings were not hard to tap into the axle housing. The whole job took about 2 hours to complete.

Once installed, the stub shaft stays in the front axle and you have to disconnect remove the extender shaft to use the mower. The shaft just slids on the spleen in the stub shaft up front and uses the same quick coupler as is used on the mower to mount to center pto output shaft.

Cool details. I know this is a semi-old thread.... but I'll ask.

Do you think the dethatcher attachment could be modified to fit the quick hitch and hydraulic up/down? (there's nothing like that sold already is there?)
