the john deere engineer had three arms! one to hold the lift bar at the right height, one to pull back on the deck and one to manipulate the pin. perfect design!
If there is any pressure on the pin, it probably isn't going to come out easy. If you leave the scalp wheels set higher when you lower the deck, the lifting bars will relieve themselves of tension when lowered, its not like there's down pressure on the lifting arms. Then you can lightly lift the arm and pull on the pin which should be free at that point. If the pin doesn't move freely, litium grease helps and so does removing a link in the j-pin spring sometimes. Just my thoughts.
