Finally uploaded a 'how-to' video onto Youtube. It shows how I install my 42" tiller onto an X540 (2013). Hopefully it helps someone save some time and aggravation. The videos that I tried to follow on youtube were always missing a crucial step or two. I think I've got everything shown in enough detail that most people can follow it ... I think.

I fought with the installation the first time I had to do it in 2013. It took at least 3 hours :banghead3

Now I've got it down to 10 to 15 minutes max :fing32:

Nice vid and very helpful.Do have to say JD took a step back comparing the x540 to the 345.The tiller attaching to the 345 is much easier.

Thanks guys! Now I get to have some fun tilling the garden before the snow falls. We normally do this to mix in the Fall leaves into the soil. Come spring, the leaves are mostly composted.

I'll look forward to the "sequel" putting the 47 inch snow blower on a X540. I'll be putting that on my X590 for first time in a few weeks

Funny you should say that. I'm doing just that either this afternoon, after I'm finished tilling, or next weekend :fing32:

SO there is a 42" hydraulic tiller locally for sale. It is for sale with a 345 JD mower. Is this the same tiller that is currently being offered for the X5xx series?
Yes But the Mounting Frame is just a Bit different Between the two You Might need some added Hardware(ie spacers, Washers ect) to Make it fit On a X500 series in other words very Minor Modifications :thThumbsU
