I've been getting quotes for the x570 and x590 and noticed the x570 is a 2018 model. I have not been able to find anything which might be different. Has anyone heard of any difference in the model year? I'm sure its just a matter of on-hand inventory but curious. I'll certainly ask when I go in to order, but like to know as much as possible going in....,

Give serious consideration to getting the X590 over the X570. The hydraulic lift is worth the money, along with power steering, and of course EFI. For an extra 25% cost, you'll get a much more versatile machine. Small cost over the life of ownership.

There were big changes for X300 and X500 in 2016, so I wouldn't expect much difference from 2018 to 2019.

I agree ^^^. After doing much of the research for a friend of mine, I didn't see any difference between the 2018 and 2019.

Plus, you get a little more horsepower with EFI, a front bumper, and HDAP tires. In the end, it cost him $1,300 more than the X570.

The X590 doesn't come with a front bumper, it has the same front weight bracket as the rest of the X500-series. You CAN add a bumper which is sold separately. As you state, it has 1.5 additional HP. But you give up a lot of turning radius with the power steering. 22" vs. 16" for the X570.

It looks like your buddy got a $300 discount off list price as the list price difference between the X590 and X570 is $1600 (assuming a 54" deck). Odd since JD is currently advertising $500 off the X590/54".

The 570 has what they call a front bumper, the 580 and 590 have the front weight bracket replacing that bumper. None come standard with the brush guard, which is what some people might consider a bumper.

X580 is another option, if you want just the power steering and lift.
From the X570, the X580 gets front weight bracket, power steering and lift, serviceable transaxle filter.
From the X580, the X590 gets EFI, tilt steering, and an upgraded seat.

Depending on the deals, the deltas can be determined and you can figure out if those features are worth the money. I settled on the X580 because of a deal that made the 580 $200 more than the 570/394 price point. I liked the idea of EFI but the 580 deal at the time meant that was like a $1,500 jump.

Maybe used the wrong terminology. But it is different from the X570. See uwaeve’s post.
The power lift is what sold him. Using that foot lift when snow blowing would get old real fast, especially for us old guys.:tango_face_smile:

He was looking at the X570 with the 48” deck, $1900 dif. With the X590, 54” deck, blower, 2 weights and chains, he’s in at just under $8200, plus tax of course. Almost like getting the blower for free compared to list.

I was never a fan of the brush guard as they designed it where you have to remove a hairpin clip and pull the rod out every time you need to open the hood to check the oil. For that reason I installed the standard bumper on my X500 which seems to give adequate protection.

You are right about the foot pedal. It's not too bad with a mower deck (I have a 48" deck) but with something like a snow blower it would get old fast.

Luckily it hit the brush guard and did no damage. I also have no issues with the fact my 580 isn't EFI. I think far too much is being made of the EFI on smaller machines like the 590/580. I have no issues starting in below 0 degree weather, I can run all day on a tank of gas, and the little bit of extra HP derived from the EFI doesn't amount to a pee hole in the snow.

That's when you instantly forgot about the extra cost of the brush guard.

I'm the same way with my X500. I don't really miss the extra 1.5 HP. I'm sure eventually all small engines will be EFI. Currently, EFI isn't all peaches and cream. It's great when it works but when it doesn't, well.... If you read some of the other forums there are several reports from folks with the X590 who had trouble starting them in very cold weather. Also quite a few reports of users getting the dreaded Engine Malfunction Indicator "aka Check Engine light". With the EFI engine, just like with most modern automobiles, when they don't start at the push of the button your only recourse is to call the dealer for pickup.

As much as I liked the extras of the 590, I've decided on the 570. I have less than 1/2 acre to mow and will only use the sleeve hitch occasionally. I prefer a walk behind snow blower, so the foot peddle will only be lifting the Deck. I do plan to be hauling heavy carts of gravel and dirt with some upcoming projects which has led me to the 500 series. For the price, you cant beat the K72, locking differential and tires on the x500 series (I just hate those little tires on newer small tractors!!).

The difference for me was $1800, which would put me into financing instead of buying outright. The foot lift gives me a great excuse to need a new tractor in 5-7 years.

At least go for the 580. You will NEVER regret the hydraulic power steering or lift, and options in the future will add a whole new meaning to the words "Look what I can do."
