This conversation started here: XT1 or XT2 and Johnny Bucket

After getting HORRID customer service from both CubCadet and my local dealer, I am pleased to announce that I am the proud new owner of a 2022 X350.

I already own a Johnny Bucket and I ordered the hitch attachment parts to convert to the x350.

My question is this. Does anyone have any experience with this pairing and if so, do you recommend reinforcing/stiffening the frame?

When routing the wiring for the JB Jr., do not do as pictured on the JP website. Use additional screw in clamps and/or wire loom to keep the wiring as close as possible to something solid. Otherwise that wiring catches on everything and will pull apart the connectors. Harbor Freight has both the loom & clamps.

You should be good to go:

Thanks, yeah I know it will fit. I am putting it on a new X350. The mower that i am replacing needed a significant amount of reinforcement. I don't want to sound like I am bashing JohnnyProducts at all. Their stuff is amazing. Service too. But their fit tends to be just limited to fit. They don't mention that while the product will fit on some mower models, the frame may not be strong enough for the standard install. That was my experience with the last mower and I am trying to get ahead of it so I only have to do the install once.

I wrote about installing the JP Jr. here:

Even though the XT3 GSX was brand new, I had one heck of a time pulling the bumper out from the frame. Finally ended up with a hammer & punch to slowly work it out. The installation instructions for the JP Jr. leave quite a bit to be desired. The black and white photocopied pictures are almost illegible. Mounting the switches, you have to find a place that is easy to reach, yet out of the way. Also kind of need a place to rest your hand on as you toggle it, that is, unless you got the joystick control.

Just don't try to dig to China with it, and you should be fine, Just keep In mind the X350 has a K46 transmission which is also found In the XT2 Lawn Tractors you were Looking at. But the X300 frame is the same as the frame found in the X500 series(except different rear hitch Plates) As I told You in the other thread some models may take a few months to get . Deere is Having issue with the X500 & X700 series because they were behind . A lot of orders took awhile to fill During Covid restrictions and that Put production behind and at one time that was also Taking 4 to 6 months to get one of those Machines Now it down to a month to 6 weeks to get a X700 in depending on model . As they Have been Back In full production since last Fall. Cub Cadet had many of the same issues as Deere. Cub Had to go Back to Kohler engines In the XT2 series due to Supply issues as Kawasaki supplied Based On when a Manufacturer started using them for there Engine Manufacturer . Even Husqvarna had to reduce there Model Offerings this year. Part of that had to do with there Engine suppliers 3 Kawasaki engine Models for the US Lawn & Garden tractors (y)

The frame on the X350 is a good frame. The X700 series has a much better frame, yet the transaxle mounts on my X749 came to me cracked. So just about any frame can be made to see forces that will bend or break it. Neither the X500 or the X300 we're designed to handle a loader (but people use them with one) but Deere does sell plows for them. You can do a lot of damage to the machine with a plow, but it handles it fine for normal usage.

Last year I noticed that the "bumper"/front hitch of my X300 was bent. I was going to buy a new one, but decided to just take it off and see if I could bend it back. With the right leverage it was not too hard to bend the formed plate steel. I didn't need a press to do it, but it did take only a few hundred pounds of force to bend it. It looks like I must have been pushing something with one side of the bumper and that is why it bent. I have no recollection of ever doing anything like that, but there was the damage. But, it is mostly gone now. I would not feel the need to reinforce the frame. I have not heard of anyone having an issue with an X300 and JB. But I have heard of issues with some of the other machines like Husqvarna that I had been considering.

Thanks! I ordered the X350 and the dealer told me they were expecting it next week. Hoping that is the case.

Very much appreciate all of your advice. I can make pretty much anything with wood, but I am a metal moron.

I would have loved to buy the X700 series, but my wife would beat me in my sleep.

No Johnny Bucket either as the Sr was discontinued in 2020 as John lost his hydraulic cylinder supplier.
I always ask for forgiveness later, look at my signature at how many tractors I have and that list is not complete , It's missing 3 more Garden tractors and a Cub Cadet Zero turn (y)

Before I met my wife. She was a Massey Ferguson tractor mechanic(she is now a Nurse). Actually, when we started dating she was still a Massey Mechanic up near Ottawa, Canada at one of her grandfathers Many Massey Dealers. Anyway, She hates John Deere with a passion. So anytime I bring a Deere home, I get complained at. But if it's another brand, I don't hear a word out of her.

She's also a Deere abuser, bought a used JD 425 back In 2000. Had to replace the Hood within the 1st Summer as she decided it could go through the bramble and brush in far northern, NY when mowing. After that, I told her to stay away from my Deere's and to use another one of the tractors we had at the time, which I knew she would not treat like a dune buggy & told her as soon as I retire from the Army. That I would buy her, her own Garden tractor.

Which ended up being a Cub Cadet 2206 in summer 2002. We traded the Cub Cadet 2206 for a Cub Cadet XT3 GSX in June 2018. She took care of that, 2206 so well that it still looked showroom clean when it was traded. Mind you, I only got to drive that 2206 the 1st day I brought it home and the Last day it was going on the Trailer to the dealer for trade in. The XT3 GSX is technically her Tractor, but now I get to drive it. But buying her, her own tractor has kept me out of the dog house on any tractor I have purchased since. So I'll never get beat in my sleep (y)

Lucky man! I am not as lucky in that regard. My wife has a strong "make do" streak and doesn't really understand why I would buy, for instance, a snow blade vs. just paying someone to shovel. Me on the other hand, prefer some semblance of self-reliance, even though my body isn't up to as much self-reliance as it used to be.

BTW, I am an American, but I lived in Ottawa for two years. Loved it. Super cold. Like discovery channel arctic special cold, but a beautiful city with incredible people.

I am glad I never lived there. Out of 21.5 Years In the US Army, I spent almost 7 years freezing my rear end off In Fort Drum. NY(BTW US army unit's from Alaska use to come down to Fort Drum, NY for cold weather training as some years we would be colder than they were). We live In Northeastern, IL where I grew Up for the most part, where we Have 4 seasons(though technically Two, Winter and Construction) I did Live In England from 1 week Old till about age 4 when My Father was a Military attaché to the US embassy In England

Watertown,NY/ Fort Drum has Two seasons as well Winter & August(when you actually saw 80 degree weather)
