X Series redesign?

Has anyone heard anything about the X7xx and X5xx series being redesigned for next year? JD has the 2011 specs on their web site and I noticed the size of the gas tanks is changing for next year. For the X7xx series, they are going from 6.5 to 5.2 gallons. The X5xx series is going from 5 to 4.5 gallons.

Haven't seen one on that, but several on the x700's and the 2305's. :fing32:
I saw that that also and the air cooled engines went up to 26 HP as well as 2 access holes in the floor pan you put a long allen wrench through to adjust the deck level.I'm sure there will be a little more as the website is updated. If you compare info on the 520 it says no model found.
On the X500 engine disp. went from 675cc to 726cc. Bought one a couple months to earlly!:fing20:

I saw that the other day and then yesterday someone posted that they are discontinuing the 520.
Maybe the fuel tank is smaller because on the specs it says it has a under seat tool tray??? I wish I had one.:crybaby:
I checked out the specs on the 2011 x500 on jd's website and see that the hp increased to 26 hp from 25 hp. My dealer told me that hp rating are going to be going up because of new emissions rules .That doesn't mean You are getting more useable hp. I also see that overall length went down to 75'' from 79 and weight went down from 809# to 760# and gas tank from 5 gal. to 4.5 gal. Looks like some kind of redesign going on. That probably why they have been increasing the rebates to move the old models. I am glad I bought mine this year as the new ones look like they are being down sized.

The 2010 specs also say there is an under the seat tool tray, have you lifted your seat? :trink39:

I have one on my 2010 x500.

That may be some place to set your tools while your working on something but nothing would stay in there. Its just part of the seat base. What I was thinking because of the smaller fuel tank they put a usable tool or starage type been on there.:trink40:

Well, from what I see on the Kawasaki motor product page, John Deere change from FH series engine to FS series.... maybe more HP..... but IMHO it's a downgrade in quality, read the description.

That is the under seat tool tray... Your X300 should have had one also, I know mine did. I can't figure out what exactly you could put in there, but it's there.

If they're changing the X500s then I guess that will be news to my salesman. He said last month that he thought they were staying around a while yet. I think those of us that just bought a X500 will be happy with what we have, especially if the 2011s are going to be smaller. I bet nobody here thinks that the price is going to be smaller too. :00000061:

This post just made me a little nervous as I like the current X500 series and plan to buy one next fall. I checked the specs on the X540 and saw the fuel tank size has been decreased as with the weight but I believe that is because they are listing it with no fuel (in 2010 the weight is listed with fuel).

Anyone catch the seat size going from a 16in open back seat to a 21 inch open back seat on the X540? I wonder if it will be larger more comfortable seat like what is found on the X7 series or did they simply just change what they measured? Anyone know if before they measured the bucket from bottom of seat to top of foam/covering and now maybe they are measuring from bottom of seat to top of plastic grab handle? Im curious, who has an X540, a tape measure, and few seconds to add some insight?

Main thing I notice is there is no mention of an oil cooler on the FS. I like that about the FH.
The FS says it is supposed to be more environmentally friendly. Could be Kawasaki is phasing out the FH too. Just guessing.

Your right about the weight .Sorry I didn't pay close enough attention.:fing20: Maybe it won't be much changes after all . We will just have to wait and see .

If you look at the X300, they're doing away with the available 38" cut. Does that make mine rarer? :)
If you look at the vid about the 4weelster model, you can see a different seat.Looks to be much higher and more comfy. Maybe this is the new seat for the X500 series?

Also noticed the FS changed from the dual throat carb back to the basic single carb on most small engines also looks like a more simple design to the governor controls. To me the FS engines look like a more simplistic design. Anyone try adjusting idle speeds on a FH engine, the engineers really blew it on that one.

Yea I did, the idle is nothing more then turning a screw, the fast idle that's another story.:D

If i saw correctly they are offering the 48'' on the X300
