I have been sprucing up a Cub Cadet 1872 SGT since mid winter. Just got it ready to mow with last night. I went out to mow the front for the 1st time with this GT and all went well until I went out back. All of a sudden I heard a ruckus and the deck stopped and I smelled rubber. I had broken the PTO belt. I had reused the old one. OK so I pick one up at the dealer on the way home from work and go to install it and the adjustable mule drive hanger had snapped in 2 in the middle of the eyelet. That's it on the far right in this pic. Brand spanking dealer new.
I called the dealer and they were still open for 45 more minutes and they are close so I bolted. I got there and showed it to the man at the counter and explained just how pleased I was that this new OEM part had just cost me a $50 belt. I bought it from him an hour earlier. He went in the back and it was taking a while. Came back out and told me they didn't have one (They usually have most everything) but were trying to make one out of 2 others. One with correct eye and one with long enough threads. Shop guy came out and handed me a nice welded and ground copy of the factory part. They said they would call me when the new one came in.
I took it home and installed it and the new belt after getting the mess of the old one out of the PTO. Then mowed the back yard.
This was at closing time on Friday night. Gotta hand it to the dealer. They got their priorities straight. They're not the cheapest place to get parts but they know who butters their bread. THE CUSTOMER!!!!!!!! What a great experience. Customer service is not quite dead yet. These folks didn't have to do that but they have impressed me and earned my bussiness. Get that at the big box store.
