I was looking at the X590 w/ 48" deck but with the $800 off the X580 this weekend it seems like a much better deal. Some local dealers said that only a 54" deck will fit on the 580 but one dealer said they can put a 48" on it. If I want a 48" should I stick with the 590?

You can put a 48 or 54 on any of the X5xx's. It's just a question of whether the dealer is willing to swap them out for you.

If a dealer is telling you that it can't physically be done, then you should probably look for another dealer.

As for choosing between a 580 and 590, you can't go wrong with either. But if you have rough winter and store it in a shed, you might grow to really appreciate the benefits of the 590.

Any dealer can just swap out the 54" for the 48" OR Just buy the x580 with out a deck and then order the 48" deck separately.
Just that the long full warrantee goes with original purchase. That is why you buy as many attachments as you can afford with the tractor. ( especially snowblower ) :tango_face_wink:

Absolutely correct. I bought my X580 this past spring with a 48" deck. All you have to do is ask for it. If the dealer says no, then find another dealer.

Just curious if the dealer did do a deck swap or if you had to order the tractor & 48" deck separately would they still honor the $800.00 rebate which applies only to the X580 w/54" deck combo? I know 1st hand that every dealer here in MS are all under one franchise umbrella and the ones I have talked to about deck swap in the past would not even consider deviating unless the deck was a stated option by JD and in this case a 48" deck for an X580 isn't. Best of luck.
