Just bought an 18 year old GT275 and would like to use gator mulching blades in place of the standard blades. With that being said, I have two questions:

There appears to be more than one retailer/manufacturer online. Which one is the "real" one? Gatorblade.com or Oregon Manufacturing.....or a different one?

If I buy the gator blades, do I need a mulching kit? I would prefer to use the side discharge.

Thanks for your help.

From my experience with gators (not on a deere) they work fine with a side discharge. However they don't work well with a non powered bagging system since the blades don't create much "lift" and the tube will just clog and cause the deck to clog also. They might work with a power flow system though.

But yes they should work just fine with a open side discharge.:fing32:

Also, if your grass is a little high and you have thick clippings you raise the deck all the way up, leave it on make passed over the thick clippings and they will spread out well. No need for sweeping then.

Well, I got them on my Murray and they bag just fine. I believe they would be the G3's as they are called now-a-days.

Mine were on the wizard in my sig. When I mowed with the gators with the bagger installed the grass would clog the tube prety bad. What did work though was letting the grass clippings dry for a hour or two then picking them up with the bagger.
