I have a 1984 Wheel Horse Work horse GT16 with the Briggs horizontal 16hp motor in it with 8 speed diff.. The motor is bad. I have a 10 hp Kohler 241 out of a 310-8. Will this motor work in this tractor? All I want to be able to do is move my boats around the yard and pull the kids in a wagon so I don't really mind losing the 6hp. Thanks for any help, Ken

You have the GT-1600 model number A1-16B801. You probably could make it work but it won't be a "drop in and drive away" type job. The wiring probably would be different and not sure if the engine output shaft is the same diameter and length. That's just at first thought. If it was the same brand engine it would be a little easier. Hopefully someone with more knowledge chimes in.

Im sure you would need to drill out new bolt holes, the wiring is different, but with a little knowledge it could be done. As far as i know the shaft diameter should be the same, whats wrong with the 16hp engine in it at the moment?
