Whats it worth - 1992 John Deere 430

I may be in the market to sell this one and get something a little bigger, but I'm curious as to what its worth. These things are priced all over the place. Here's some details.

1904 hours, 60" deck just rebuilt, factory 3pt hitch, two 45 lb weights, Carlisle ag tires, rebuilt the rear end and put in a new axle less than 100 hours ago, will come with a set of turf tires for the rear with about 80% tread. Sheet metal is good, paint is peeling in a few places, I painted the back seat pan two years ago, but isn't perfect and could use it again. No major leaks, doesn't use any oil, only smokes just a puff on startup. The only thing I know doesn't work is the low fuel sensor.

Realistically heading into winter with no winter attachments..... I would say $3,000-3,250... but that is my opinion.... but remember the ones you still see are the ones that are not selling..... on CL anyway...
That's about what I thought. I've already turned down $2500. O
Serious prospective buyers will want to know:
How's come the nose is so dirty/rusty looking?
Headlight lens missing?
What are the silver lines along the frame on the left side?
Ah, should've mentioned that. Silver lines are the front hydraulics, nose isn't bad but is dented in a few places and the paint has seen better days. The headlight lens fell out the other day and I hit it with the mower before I saw it. A new one is in the mail.

I actually know the complete history of this mower since new. My in-laws neighbor bought it new in 92 with ever attachment. It even had a loader at one time.

I don't know anything about a 430, so I can't help you with a price, but, I've always thought they are one of the best/coolest looking GT's out there. I love how the front end hangs out beyond the tires. GLWS
Here in the northeast, I think the average is $2500 with a 60" deck in good condition. Attachments increase price, especially with the 430 since the frame and pto extension are needed and those cost ~$400(if they can be found).

Your selling price really depends how much you want to sell and how patient you are with Craigslist buyers, takes a lot of time to answer emails and show the tractor to prospective buyers.

Fwiw: If I were looking at your tractor, would be really curious to know why you needed to replace front hydraulic hardlines.

Hmmm...I've never noticed the hard lines were different. They were like that when I bought it. I wasn't looking for this tractor when I bought it, it found me. I knew nothing about a 430 other than they existed. My father in law talked me into it after he saw it and knew I was in the market for a larger mower.

Why do the silver hydraulic lines run outside the frame? They are supposed to be inside. I would perceive that as a red flag if I were a prospective buyer. The rear end being rebuilt is another red flag for me.
No clue about the lines, I rebuilt the rear myself. I bought it with a broken axle, it had a loader on it (was gone when I bought it) and the previous owner got happy with the diff lock and snapped it. Internally it was spotless, so we freshened it up and put a new axle in. Been going strong 4 years now. The weight bracket was modified to run 3 series implements. My father in law has a 322, I've been running his front plow for a while and it works great.

That makes me feel a lot better. I bought a 420 with a loader and the prior owner had snapped the rear axle too. I believe it was due to the differential lock being engaged improperly as well.

I think those silver lines are the front 1/2 of a rear hydraulic kit.

I have the rear 1/2 on one I'm flipping
Makes sense, this thing was bought with every attachment available. It had the rear hydraulic bagger at one time.

Thats why mine was equipped with them too
I've bought and sold over twenty JD's of different sizes and one thing I have noticed is that a lot of sellers think that buyers want to see the tractor as it is in it's daily life. I don't know about you but when I go see a tractor I want it to be cleaned up or at least hosed off. If I didn't know so much about them I would have walked away from several they were so dirty. Would you want to buy a used car covered in mud or the inside full of trash? I wouldn't. It can't hurt to at least wash them off. Also, a can of JD green can do wonders on an area that has scratches or light rust if you clean it off and prime it first. These old metal grills can be straightened with your hands and a small adjustable wrench. Here is my latest 318 fender pan that was about 60% surface rust. I used two rattle cans of JD green and then rubbed it out.
