There is a 318 with no engine listed locally.
Assuming it passed a visual inspection and was found to be in relatively good condition and fairly closeby.
What would you give for it ?
There is also a B48g listed that runs but has 1500 hrs on it. Compression is 100 on each side. What would you give for that ?

They are different sellers.

To me a 318 with no engine would be worth no more than $400 tops simply becasue you have no way to verify the operation of the hydraulics. I paid $475 for my 318 which ran but just barely, but at least I could tell the hydraulics worked.

Well, assuming they don't leak, there are two hundred dollars worth of hydraulic cylinders on there, depending on the year a $150 steering valve, and some other goodies. Even so, I would not go above $350 for the tractor.

As for the engine, the B48G was from a 420 and may require a little work to retrofit. Then you may have wiring differences. Still, it's worth $205-$350 even as a core.

I passed up a 318 2 years ago that ran but had one dead cyl. and the usual wear & tear for $500 so for one without engine $200-250 maybe if the rest was in decent shape. I wouldn't pay more than $100 for a "builder" onan. My thinking when buying something questionable is not to pay more than you think you can part it out for in case you have to bail.

I think I saw the same listing for a 318 with no engine, based on the fact the guy selling it does not know the history of the machine his price is way too high. I'd go $300-400.

From the picture in the ad, it looks like a clean 318, but his price of $650 is way too high. If you could get that cab in the background, it might make it worth the $650, but I wouldn't pay over $300 for it without an engine. If you decided to buy it and get an engine to put into it, you never know what misc pieces are going to be missing and those little pieces add up when you have to buy them all.

Looks like a clean tractor, check the hrs, and see if the drive shaft and such is still in the tractor.Don't think I've sever seen one the hydraulics didn't work no matter how ragged out. Then its how bad you want one and how common they are in your area.I'd rather start with a clean machine with no engine than a ragged out/worn out one that ran.A variety of engines could fit with a little work.

I offered $325 - He wants extra (above the $650 asking price) to get the clutch and muffler.:dunno:

I'd have more than $2000 into this tractor alone at $650 + getting an engine , seat, muffler and clutch.

There's a runner 318 with a deck,blower,weights and chains for $2000 on cl today.

Oh well- the search continues!
