napa stores that sell paint should have an equipment color chip book that had three different shades of gravely red, not sure what corresponded to what but they should still be able to mix it for you in acrylic enamel or ever base/clear.
the martin senour formula number is 94913, they only have one formula now.

Are you talking about the correct color for your '59? Gravely changed their red color a few times over the years.

Yes, the '59 L
This one won't win any beauty contests, so close enough is good enough on this project.
I've never seen one in good shape, so I'm not sure what the real color should look like....that's why I asked. Thanks for the feedback

rustolium regal red is very close to what was red in '49. the correct color is the same red they used in '75 for the trans am line at gm, or in the '50s for the corvettes. i dont know about the newer Ls, as they are more of an orangey red, but the older stuff was a vibrant red

the cut-away is painted regal red, the '49 is dupont paint:fing32:

I remember in one of the other old forums a long time ago they said chevy orange engine enamel was very close.
Ahhhh sounds like a paint thread!:sidelaugh

Just clowning Scott. Paint threads are notorious for length and sometimes passion.

Just chipping in to note that chevy orange engine paint is REAL orangey.

Used it on my first restore. The one where I caught GAS before even finding MTF.

If it were me I'd just go ahead and use Regal Red on a '59.
