Omigoodness, FINALLY some snow! Well, not just some...

(that's the neighbour's driveway... They don't want me to snowblow it for them, 'cause they like the exercise! Good for them, I say!)

Got so excited I roared out at the crack of dawn today! Well, after some crescent rolls.... and two cups of coffee... and checking MTF... and playing a bit of WOW. Then 20 minutes of trying to remember how to strap on my snow blowing gear...

Oh, and back in to get the green and yellow snowblowing scarf!

Okay, ambled out at about 10 am... Snow on the way out to the garage was over my boots... Hmmmm... COULD it be too much for the plow? Well, lets try it anyway.... 45 minutes later, back in I came....Got to the icy patch at the bottom of the driveway, 2 feet of snow piled in front of LittleTractor and I lost traction... THEN I couldn't get up the hill into the garage, because under the snow in the alley was a sheet of ice (the only thing left of our LAST little snowstorm...). DESPITE the fact that at my annual physical last week, my doctor said I was getting heavier AND shorter (at this rate, I'll be square soon!), I STILL need loaded tires! Next year....

So, got a quick refresher on popping the blower on (its like riding a bicycle... except louder... and colder... and snowier), then backed'er out to take the blower off the blower dolly

THEN couldn't get back up the hill again! :banghead3 Oh well, figured I might as well check and make sure it worked... For a change, I got the belt on the right way the FIRST TIME!! Yay!

So, then back in to eat lunch quicklike, and back out. Did the back alley, then got stuck on the ice getting OUT of the alley... Need more lard, I guess! Or windshield washer fluid (for the tires, NOT for me!). After a neighbour gave me a hand spinning the tractor around, off I went and did the sidewalks all the way up to NEARLY the overpass... Don't like going ALL the way up there, because its a fair hill, with LOTS of traffic, lots of snow and HARD to turn around on... So got up there and decided to back down... Which went okay until I spun out a bit and dropped a front tire off the curb... But for the FIRST time, I managed to get the front tire back up over the square curb! Without having other people help me lift (it was nice of the lady whose walk I'd just done to come up and check on me, but by then I'd backed Littletractor up onto the curb! Cleared a bit of a space, backed around and drove down the right way.... THEN onto my driveway... Was JUST ready to hit the back yard when the snow stopped shooting out... Uh oh. Belt's on, shaft is still turning, no auger movement.... Took a look, and sure enough, my shear bolt was toast. Didn't HIT anything, do these things sometimes just shear for the sheer heck of it?.... Of course, I THOUGHT I'd taken a shear bolt off the rack LAST year, so that I wouldn't have to rescue one off it out in the cold... Guess what I couldn't find...

Good thing I have some spares... but DANG they're cold to take off in snowy weather! :)sorry1: Ericstromberg, I'm feeling some guilt here!)

Finished about 4 o'clock, after having to still shovel the spots where I can't fit the tractor.... Feeling like I got some good seat time today, with lots of adventure! When I wonder tomorrow why my left shoulder is so sore, you all remind me why....

Buddy.. you can have all the snow.. we got 2 inches. that's enough..
I agree and think it has been great that winter is half over and haven't had to plow snow with the tractor at all. If we can get as lucky the rest of the winter it would be awesome. It is predicting rain here for the next couple of days and staying fairly mild for a couple of weeks.

Ha, If we get 2In of snow down here they will close everything up here :duh:
We received 8 " of snow in west michigan , first snow of the season. used the blower on the 210 ,and finished up with the 112 and snow blade. The tractors have been waiting for 2 months to do something.:thThumbsU
I hope this snow didnt slow the progress on the 112?

No, but the -40 C and bonechilling wind chills they're calling for this upcoming week might have a SLIGHT, um, discouraging effect on my progress (I HATE when tractor parts freeze to my fingers and pull the skin off!)!

So, on the upside, yay, snow! Christmas-y, finally! AND seat time! Bonus.... Down side... I THINK it might be winter now! :crybaby: Here's hoping it doesn't last til June!

LTG, glad to hear you finally got some seat time! Yep more weight at the rear will make an amazing difference.
Nice that you got seat time!!!! Sounds like you had a fun day!!!!
Tyson, now you have your snow. Keep the neighbours happy by continuing to clear the sidewalks.

So did you try the new cab out, Randy? Is it all nice and toasty warm and worth the wait and trouble?
Good to see you actually had some fun with the rig. I was driving my friends quad with a plow to clear his driveway, wishing I had a thrower and some kind of cab on the 112. I'm not looking forward to the bone chilling -30s either this coming week. :hide:

Had a staff bunch to go to out at the Dakota Dunes, so pulled out the trusty JD 826 walk behind blower to clear the driveway and area around the spare garage. To get the 455 or 4100 out of the garage, I need to move my wifes van out first, and park it somewhere out of the way. When we get the drifting up against the garage doors, there's nor really a place to park the van. WHEN it warms up -35 tonight, I'll get it out and see how it performs compared to the 332.
