What is a Sears ST-16 worth with attachments?

I have an ST-16 that I would like to sell. It has sat under the barn for about 2 years and hasn't run in that time. Needs new battery and engine is free. 16hp OHV Tecumseh engine. My Dad bought this tractor new back in about 1975 new. Attachments include mower deck, snow plow, snow blower, sickle mower, leaf shredder for front - can also chop up smaller sticks, tine harrow for 3 pt hitch on the back and a home made blade for the back which actually works rather well.

This tractor ran well before it was parked, the only outstanding issue I know of is that the throttle shaft is worn and the tractor doesn't run well at certain throttle setting due to the air that leaks through the shaft. A new carb or throttle shaft would make a good tractor. And the battery.

I would keep this myself, but I've got all Gravely stuff and use that brand.

Thanks for any input,
Alex

It is worth what you can sell it for and a lot more if you can start it and show how it works. Look on EBay and you will get a general idea what the tractors sell for. The attachements are probably worth more than the tractor if old individually but can be hard to sell. You have to remember how many people want a 35+ year old tractor or the attachments for it. Pick a price you would be happy with and add 50% and put it on CL. That way you have room to dicker but do not plan on retiring on what you can sell it for. Roger
You may consider selling the sickle mower separately, especially if it's complete and in good shape. Same for the leaf shredder.

For comparison, I bought my ST-16 last year for $150 with mower deck and front grader blade. It needed a new deck belt, a carb kit/cleaning, new seat (the old one was pure duct tape) and a good servicing. I thought it was a pretty good deal.
I'd say 6-800 for everything. How good of shape is the mower deck and sickle bar in?

Around here, the mower & deck would be worth $250 to 400.
The 3 point is worth $125 to 150
Snow plow would bring $125
Snow Blower would bring $150 to 200
the Sickle Bar would bring $350 to 500
The Chipper / Shredder would be worth $350 +
The Harrow I'd guess at $125 Minimum
& the home made blade also $150 Minimum

ADDED: I just noticed the wheel weights & 2 link tire chains in the picture.. there's another $100.

Add up the individual prices and you've got a high end price. Typically a group of attachments won't bring as much as they would if they were sold separately.

If it were mine, I'd be asking in the $1250 to 1400 range for the package.. you can always drop the price to complete a deal but you can't raise it. Don't short change yourself in the sale by starting too low.

Just my thoughts,

Dave

I would be interested in the sickle bar mower Please reply to [email protected] if willing to sell separately.
Stripmine's price estimates are spot on for where I am as well. I'd say sell the attachments individually; you will get more this way.
I wish you were closer, I'd buy the lot right this second. But sadly I'd have no way to get it all the way to Wisconsin. :(
I think a good running ST16 should bring $500 with a mower deck included. A non-running tractor is a different story. You can put $500 into a Sears tractor in no time IMO.
Thanks for all the replies.

I'll be listing this in a week or two and let anyone on here have a first crack at it before I list it on CL.
I'd like to sell the whole set at once, but can also see that the sickle mower and shredder seem to be higher price/sought after attachments and may sell those separately.

Thanks for all the help,
Alex
I've decided to offer this for sale. I spent a few hours on the tractor and got it running. Fuel system was cleaned out and works fine. I had to jumper the starter solenoid to get it to start. So it may need a new solenoid, or just a loose/ corroded connection.

I've contacted everyone who PM'd me and replied to this post, but none got back to me.
Now I'm offering it for sale on here. Before listing on CL.

$1300 for the whole package, may sell sickle and shredder seperate if interest is shown.

Please PM me and I will email you details and pictures.

Thanks,
Alex

How much for the three point complete. I just bought a 18/6 with sickle mower but it didn't have the three point with it.
Jebals71,

$1300 for the 3 pt hitch, tractor and other attachments included free.

At this point I am not selling the 3pt hitch separately.

$1300 seems a little high for the hitch, but with all of the freebies included.. that's an awesome deal. :sidelaugh:sidelaugh:sidelaugh
IMO 1300 is a little high for the package- But you have to start somewhere. I bought a compost mill (front mount old style 'chipper') for $160 a couple years ago, and sold it for $200 recently in working condition. The tractor, plow, weights, chains, and deck is worth about $500-600, Disks worth about $75, 3 point worth between $75 and $125, harrow worth about $75-125, Snowblower (if its the white one) is pretty worthless IMO but can sell for $50-$100

what I expect you'll get for offers on the whole package, $800-$1000

I would sell some attachments separately then sell the tractor, mower, plow, and snowblower with weights for about $700

You wont have trouble selling the rest.

Post more pics of you have them.

Just my $.02

James,

Things always seem to be a lot less expensive up in your neck of the woods, Around here, the prices tend to be a bit higher.:dunno:

Dave
The snowblower is the dark one and its been the snow clearing workhorse for many years and works very well.

Don't forget a sickle mower is included in that package. Ill sell that and the shredder separately if anyone is interested.

Pm me and I'll email anyone some pics.

Alex
If shipping wouldn't kill me I'd be interested in the sickle and shredder both. Unfortunately by the time you figure in shipping it's gonna be more than I want to pay.
Which model of sickle bar is this? There were two basic styles offered.
