Started putting the chassis back together yesterday, cleaned the wiring and did some re-wrapping. Found a broken parking brake handle so I had to stop and order a part. Got a bunch of parts today so I started assembling the engine but I can only go so far because I set the PTO side crank seal too deep and I was afraid I would block the return hole. I pulled the seal and ordered another. Yesterday I set a brand new rattle can of paint on the garbage can and it fell off and landed on the nozzle. It broke off and paint went every where including me. :(

I think MTF is the only place I've seen or heard words like this, and it's such a nice change from the usual "My tractor doesn't work because..." (y)

Success! The 5" pulleys came in today and I went right to work installing them. The tensioner pulley would need modification as it would be touching one pulley, but I didn't end up using it (for now). I bought three different size belts from Runnings and ended up using the largest; 28".

If this didn't work, plan B would have been the tensioner, and plan C would be to try the non-kevlar belts (never give up! 😁 ). There's still plenty of clearance with the larger pulleys.

This video is the compost pile that I plowed the other day with the 1864.

I made one more video breaking new ground. There was a low spot here on the main path to the back yard that was essentially a speed bump. Not anymore.

Got the rear seal today so I was able to finish the assembly of the engine and get it installed. I pored and little gas down the carb and it lit right up. I will get all new gas line and run it off a small can so can be sure the stator is good before I put any more together. It bench tested good but I should have done a running test before I tore it down. I am back to waiting for parts before I can assemble more anyways. I am going to finish the front half before I start on the back.

Lookin good Ken. You're gonna get decades of use out of that when you're done with it.

I fired it up to day after I installed new fuel lines and fuel filter. Fuel pump must be pretty good because it quickly pulled fuel 8 feet away from a can just by cranking it. Tested the stator and regulator and they are good. I let it warm up good and found oil leaking around the governor shaft and from one of the screws coming through the rocker cover and coming out of the fuel pump. When I look up valve cover gaskets they ask if they are yellow or black gaskets.
