Hi, a friend is looking for a tractor, and I saw a 4x4 Kubota L2550 with bush hog brand loader. Are they a decent tractor? I think they have a 3 cyl diesel. What are things to watch out for (I know the obvious like clutch, injectors leaking, tires, that kind of stuff but anything that was a problem on these)? And what is a fair price on one?

Thanks

If memory serves me well, these tractors were produced from the mid 80s to the early 90s. They were pretty solid built as were most Kubota products.

In terms of what to look for, I would do a thorough lookover of the whole tractor. Check all fluids, brakes, check for clutch wear and functionality, and I would ensure the hour meter works so you have a valid knowledge of how many hours the machine truly has. I'd be checking over anything and everything that you can. With a tractor that old, expect to make a few repairs. If it checks out and you aren't afraid of the risk of a few repairs I would say go for it.
