you accidentally leave the ignition key on the "on" position, say for a couple of hours? That's what happned to my '68 WheelHorse Commando 8 today. The coil got really hot to the touch. I did not even try to start and just pushed it inside the garage and parked it. Could the coil get damaged and/or any other electrical components? Pls advise. Thx.

I Think it can burn the points , If it has them also

Most likely thing is that it may have burnt the points. If the coil was hot, the motor stopped where the points were making contact. Check the points and then see how she runs.

Id try just simply starting it before I got too excited.

Same here. If it runs a little rough take your points cover off and clean them with a dollar bill.

:ditto: coils are very simple things and can take a fair bit of punishment. if anything is gonna be messed up its probably gonna be the points, which can easily be replaced or cleaned; and you battery will probably be on the low side...
