Well, I need a 345 front bumper

:banghead3 Hey gang,
Darn fence post jumped out in front of me today when I wasn't looking and I broke the front and one side bumper. Neighbor boy works at the dealer part time and just dropped off the replacements.
I asked him about a brush guard for the 345 and he said they told him JD doesn't make one for the it.
I thought I had seen them on ebay in the past. Anybody know if anybody makes one for my tractor?
Thanks,
Dave

I don't know about a brush guard, can't seem to locate any for a 345, but theres a bumper on ebay listed at $55.

I put the bumper on mine, about 80 something at dealer, hood still opens with bumper on/up
Yeah, I got the plastic pieces last night when my neighbor dropped them off. What I am looking for is a steel brush guard that goes in front of the bumper and grill.
Yeah Dave, seems I remember seeing something like that when I had my GX345. I think it was black and had a couple of bars that protected the plastic bumper. I'll keep my eyes open :goodl:
you should check with Dan (olcowhand) he is a member here and he makes custom parts.

The black steel with the two cross tubes I referred to above I called a bumper, though I know JD calls the green polymer body part a bumper. The guard kit above was 80 something at the dealer. Protects the front, does not block hood opening, but does not come to top of hood like a real brush guard.

Yeah! That's what I want!:crybaby: Now why can't my dealer come up with one?

I'm not sure as I just bought mine a few months ago at my JD dealer for my GX345. It was not the same as the one I bought for the GX255. I just burned the box or I would have the part number. I may still have the installation guide. Dealer sould be able to look up/find for you. My GX345 in a 2004 I think, don't know if they changed mounting, etc during the period.
I did some searching for a brush guard for my new gx345 and decided to bring this thread back to life.

Does anybody know where to get a brush guard for a gx345? Do they even make them? TIA
Yep you brought back a dead one.

I know they dont make them anymore and in my research they are about impossible to find.

I went to my dealer and they had one out back for my 345. Cost me a case of beer for the boys in the shop.

This year I cleared an acreage so the front guard got a WORK OUT.
Sorry I didn't follow up back then. I did find a brush guard at a dealer in SE PA and drove right there (about an hour) to get it back when this thread was active. Every now and then they show up on ebay.

I know one time I needed a lift assist kit for my 285 when I had it. It was a special spring loaded thingy to help manually lift the snowthrower. Glad I got hydro lift on the 345 for that now!
The JD parts guy did a search of dealers and found some (lift kits) in Watertown, NY. Called them and they shipped one to me. Funny thing is shortly after that I started doing business with a company in Watertown and now I fly my plane there occasionally to call on them. Could have picked it up.
Maybe ask your dealer to try that.
Good luck!
Dave
Thanks Dave...I will try that.
I looked up the p/n for the brush guard or front bumper. It's bm20821
I had my local dealer pull a list of folks who still had BM20821 in stock, and just ordered one. If anyone is still looking, send me a PM and I can point you to a dealer who has one marked as in stock. There were three listed in the US and three in Canada.
The Bumper ( lol) looks like the one on my LX279 I replaced it a few times. When they said the X520 has one for an option I said I'll take it $100 bucks but I spent more than that on the plastic pieces of crap.
I mean come on JD who builds a "tractor" with a HARD plastic bumper that the screw mounts snap on a sapling ?
I believe it's more of a "brush guard" -- it's two pieces of pipe that cross in front of the plastic bumper.

Thats cool they are around. I was thrilled to find a used one after the dealer told me I could not get one new anymore.

EDIT: Anyone have a picture of one attached? The above diagram does not show it welll. I dont have the right hardware and that makes it hard to drop mower deck off.
What's the number for the guard for the GX255?

I want one!

Thanks

Took me forever but I knew i had seen it before:trink39:
Thanks KATT but I need a hardware picture. If you use regular hex head bolts its hard to get the mower deck off because the release arm up front hits the bolts.

Also, you need to remove it for blade and blower. I think its should have a bolt along with the sleeve and pin.

This is mine now.
