I loaned my neighbor my walk behind snowblower last Winter because they didn't have one, and I have my tractor-mounted blower, so I was trying to do "the right thing". I went and got it back from him yesterday, because my little brother just bought his first house and doesn't have a lot of money, so I want to give it to him. Anyway, I get it home and look it over, and I see that the handle is missing on the recoil!! First off, I'm pizzed off that he didn't fix it (he's a mechanic) or at least tell me that it was broken. So I'm going to have to try and fix it myself before giving it to my brother. I'm not very mechanical by any means, but I figure I can probably tackle this. Any hints, tricks, or advice on how to do this from you knowledgable bunch of people????

Yup, I figured it out and got it fixed. Thanks for the help and diagram! The only thing is, now there's about eight to ten inches of rope that won't re-wind. I think the spring's getting weak. But I checked, and even if I cut off that extra eight inches or so, there's still plenty still wound around the spool to get it started, so I think I'll just cut the excess off and call it a day.
